Wonderful performance
This is one of those books where the audiobook version is definitely superior to the physical version. Buy it, listen to it and marvel at the experience of excellent writing beautifully read. I almost hugged myself in sheer joy at Niamh Cusack’s narration, it’s wonderful.

The story, the words and the storyteller
Niamh Cusack was just perfect to read this book. Absolutely wonderful listen. A great story simply told. John Boyne is just a brilliant storyteller, you get lost in his books so quickly. I was there on that little island too.

meaty characters
I just love how John Boyne tells a story! The characters are well rounded and most always shows a deeper glimpse into their psyche - underneath the hard shell.

Another winner from John Boyne
I always look forward to another book by John Boyne ... this one was exceptionally good ... so much that I
could not put it down .. I read it over 2 days. He's a master story teller. This is a story of a woman who wants
to escape her past by going to live in a remote village under a new name.

Brilliant
John Boyne writes so convincingly in a woman’s voice . His characters are memorable , his sentiments on toxic men are also clear . But this is such a wonderful story and I can’t wait to see what he does in the books to follow in this series . Beautifully read .
