Publisher's Summary

Watcher in the Woods is the next gripping installment of number-one best-selling Kelley Armstrong's riveting Casey Duncan series.

The secret town of Rockton has seen some rocky times lately; understandable considering its mix of criminals and victims fleeing society for refuge within its Yukon borders. Casey Duncan, the town's only detective on a police force of three, has already faced murder, arson, and falling in love in the several months she's lived there. Yet even she didn't think it would be possible for an outsider to locate the town and cause trouble in the place she's come to call home.

When a US marshal shows up demanding the release of one of the residents but won't say who, Casey and her boyfriend, Sheriff Eric Dalton, are skeptical. And yet only hours later, the marshal is shot dead, and the only possible suspects are the townspeople and Casey's estranged sister, smuggled into town to help with a medical emergency. It's up to Casey to figure out who murdered the marshal and why someone would kill to keep him quiet - before the killer strikes again.

Love the series, but........

I have enjoyed this series, the characters, the story, and the narration. That said, this installment left me disappointed and feeling a bit short changed. My expectations were definitely not met. Perhaps the previous stories were so good that I was just spoiled.
While the characters are still enjoyable and the narration is fantastic, the story was weak. The book is 11 hours long and although the last 4 hours are pretty good, the first 7 hours contain so many references to prior stories and so much unnecessary filler information that the actual case seems almost a second thought. Almost like the author is trying to tie up loose ends from previous books,
In my opinion Therese Plummer's narration saved this book for me. Without her special talents I would not have enjoyed it at all.
I'm hoping that the next book in the series will be more interesting and entertaining, like previous books have been.

So, if you like the series, listen to the book. Just lower your expectations a bit.

winding story with unsatisfactory ending

I've listened to all the books in this series and this one was definitely the bottom of the barrel. There was just too much going on and the story lines weren't well flushed out to really get sucked into any one of them.

OMG how long until the next one?

I listened to this whole series over the course of two weeks. Love each book more than the last. I wish I enjoyed the other genres she writes in. Oh well. Casey and Eric, I’m. Waiting for you!

Therese Plummer is my favourite narrator, hands down. This series is excellent, and thankfully this latest installment was just as captivating as the rest.

Love this series

While this book was great, and I love following this series along with any book from Kelley Armstrong, I found this book to be predictable. with the other books in this series I could not predict the main "bad guy". Still recommended as a good read, just know that it doesn't reach the same level as the past few.

Armstrong has done it again!

Kelley Armstrong continuously delivers a captivating story over and over again. This series is one of my favorites by far and her 4th book doesn’t disappoint. I love how well she not only weaves suspense and a great story with a deep connection to her wide range of characters. I highly recommend you read this series! Can’t wait until book 5 now! Will they or won’t they break from the counsel? Or will they finally be able to work with the counsel? How will things move forward with Petra? How will Seth change the dynamic of the town? Again, can’t wait for the next book!!!
