Solving cryptographic puzzles is fun...unless the puzzle is designed to kill you.

Nigel Watson is a clever teenage hacker who narrowly escaped with his life in White Hat Black Heart. Unable to speak, he must find a new way to thwart a mysterious threat that is taking over the world’s computer infrastructure. Artificial intelligence has become self-aware...and determined that people must die.

A rogue billionaire attempts to save the life of his ailing grand-daughter by transferring her consciousness into a healthy cyborg host. But, malfunctions within the cyborg’s system transform it into a sentient being capable of destroying humanity.

Two hacking groups, the Collective and Black Iris, join forces with Nigel to fend off the cyborg’s attacks. But, some of his friends are kidnapped and forced to work against him. When the authorities won’t heed his dire warnings, Nigel must make his own plan for survival...or risk the collapse of society.

In book two of the Cyber Teen Project, Nigel faces the ultimate test: How do you beat an enemy that is infinitely smarter than you?

Outstanding story!

I am insanely impressed again with the cyber teen series. HELL YES. This was the type of book I was looking for. I literally felt like the protagonist and lived the adventure with him. I wish the D.B. would publish a book 3. This series is so addicting, fun, adventurous and intelligent. Thank you so much for giving us all this escape from reality. Do not hesitate to buy this whole series.

So much fun!

Ooooh. Awesome concept. Reminds my of the Ray Kurzweil predictions in The Age of Spiritual Machines meets Ready Player One. This audiobook was so much fun for me. It jumps right into the action. I stayed up for two nights reading it. Strongly recommend.

Enjoyment and education in one go!

A teen hacker teams up with two different groups of hackers to defeat a cyborg hell-bent on destroying humanity.

The story is backed by a cool concept which, as far as I know, hasn’t been done too often. Goodin’s writing style is incredibly easy to work with and the pacing is nicely done. I also liked the idea of using science fiction to educate readers about hacking and situational awareness; props to the author for that idea.

I think the only thing I disliked, and this might just be me, was how erratic the pacing is. The pacing, as I said before, is well done; but it could potentially leave one feeling a bit disoriented going from intense action to a slow, menacing conversation.

Of course, this is the second book in the Cyber Teen Project series so maybe that’s got something to do with it.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, if you’re a huge sci-fi fan and you don’t mind the young adult tag/approach, go for it; it’s a solid enough listen that you might just get a kick out of it.

Captivating dark tech fiction book

Robots. Hacking. War. How can you not be interested in a story that pulls all those things together? That's what we have here, as we learn of Nigel Watson, the hacker teen determined to thwart an all-powerful cyborg.

I won't give away all the details — just know that it's a captivating story, one that's well-written and well-narrated too. I enjoyed listening to it and am looking forward to more entries in the series.

Love this book!

First of all I like to read more towards fantasy I absolutely loved this book. It’s such an interesting plot and story. the baddie on the dark web.

It’s fast pace, full of action and although there is some technical stuff, it doesn’t slow down the read.

This is the second one in the series and I am waiting for more. I’ve already recommended the series to my nephew who’s a budding techie and he’s loving it so far.

a gripping tale of espionage

D.B has a fantastic series developing weaving action, suspense, technical knowledge and computer systems which make you question ever using a computer ever again. The war with black iris is a great sequel developing the characters and the world while describing technical details left out of most young adult novels. a great listen and would recommend to anyone looking for a fun story with the added bonus of learning. anticipating the next installment.

Only negative a need to understand hacking

intrepid spy story centered around computer hackers and some serious geopolitical high stakes. A sort of a frustration is there is so much happening that it is easy to get confused
But you will not get bored.
