Publisher's summary

How much is too much to love?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. Just when he thought he was invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Jamie McGuire's New York Times best seller Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it's time to see the story through Travis's eyes.

Travis Maddox 2.0!

Although Beautiful Disaster wasn’t my favorite book I did like Travis so I gave this one a shot. I absolutely loved this story from his POV. Although the plot is a bit repetitive, it felt more like a “behind the scenes” look into Travis and Abby’s story. It gave me a better appreciation for the first book. (Perhaps Travis's side of the story should have been told first?)

I enjoyed the narration, story and overall feel of this book so much more than Beautiful Disaster. I’m glad I gave this one a try. And the epilogue was amazing!

Simple AMAZING! Better than Book 1!

OMGOOODNESS! How do you write the exact same story... better than the first from another POV...!!! This is really hard to do and McGuire nailed it...

I was so nervous about this book b/c I didn't want my original impression of Travis Maddox to change, not one bit... WOW... This book is like.... it is like....

Ok...first... I was scared some scenes from BD would be redone from Travis POV, which I felt were already done from his POV in BD... but you know what... McGuire apparently felt that way too, because not one of those scenes where redone...

Second... I was so wanting to hear the other side of the virgin/smex/leaving scene... When Travis smashed up everything in BD... OMG! SO much better now that I have see it from Travis POV... WOW... WOW.., I loved the silent rage... it was like Travis was raging on the outside... going all crazy, smashin up the house... but inside... he is complete numb, silent... dead... quite... just broken...! OMG! Who writes like that...? McGuire I will read anything you write!

Third... Beautiful Disaster (BD) is how the outside world sees Travis Maddox...very tough, brutally honest and a "Maddog" right... But this book... is like the inner turmoil of that very ruff shell... but deep down...Travis is soooo very innocent... OMG! WOW WOW... and how he loves Abby! His Pigeon...

And the epilogue! WHAT! YESSSSS! I always wondered what Travis and Pigeon life would be like after college... Soooo cool!!!

*Extra*: Remember in BD when America said Travis and Shep talk... Well boy do they... all thier conversations are exposed~!!! LOVED IT!!!

Better than the first

I liked Beautiful Disaster but Travis always seemed kind of sick in his over crazy attraction for Abby. When hearing the story from his side (what is in his head) it made sense. I know several reviews have complained about the ending, the "where they are now" but, I thought it was sweet and I was happy to see they were still together.

I look forward to Jamie McGuire's next book (whatever it will be). Great author and both narrators for both books were excellent choices. Fantastic job!!

FOR THE LOVE OF TRAVIS!!!!!

Beautiful Disaster rocked my world and brought me into the mature YA genre, introducing me to so many great novels. So of course I had to experience this wonderful young romance all over again told from the other side and was not disappointed for even a second. For those who read/listen to "Beautiful Disaster" and think the same story from a different voice isn't worth your time, well Travis's view is incredible and brought me to so many emotional brinks but if not just for that the prologue and epilogue definitely makes this novel worth it. "Walking Disaster" began the trend of authors writing the male perspective of already published romances and for damn good reasons!
If you fell for strong fast talking bad ass Travis Maddox the first time then hearing his point of view and knowing the true depth of his heart will have you head over heels in love!

It wasn't really the same story

I have to admit I was soooo excited for this book to come out...and yet so dreading reading this book! I wanted to hear Travis's side of things, but didn't want to ruin my impression of book one!

Happy to say a good medium was found and the book was kind of like a behind the scenes version of book 1, very cool! Hope other authors take a look at this, I would love to have some of my past favorites written from the other main characters perspective!

Well done!

An Amazing Performance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would only recommend this to someone who had read and loved the first book, Beautiful Disaster.

What other book might you compare Walking Disaster to and why?

This book is exactly like the last book, as far as the story goes. There are a few new scenes, and a few scenes are dropped. But even a lot of the dialogue tags are just converted over. There are several times where the POV slips, and we are told something we could only know from Abby's POV, even though this is Travis's book.

What about Dan Bittner’s performance did you like?

The vocal performance was utterly amazing. So much emotion came through, that let me really connect with Travis in what felt like a very intimate, personal way. Listening to it, it sounded very real, almost like I was in the room with them. He brought the characters to life.

Fabulous!

Any additional comments?

This is book 2 that follows Beautiful Disaster. It is basically Travis' POV. I love a mans' POV. I was touched by Travis' heartfelt emotions when he thought he had lost Pidge. Overall, a wonderful listen!

A MUST HAVE companion to Beautiful Disaster!

I had read Beautiful Disaster several times before the audio came out. Once I had the audio I listened to that several times. I had fallen in Love with the story and characters from the very first read. So, when I heard Walking Disaster was coming out I was all on board and counting down. This book/audiobook is the same story but absolutely different at the same time. I loved finding out what exactly was going through Travis' head and knowing the male perspective during certain situations. I also delighted in knowing what was going on during scenes Abby wasn't around for. All the scenes between Travis, Shep and America just rounded out the whole story and gave you a better perspective on Travis' character.

For those of you who haven't read the first book, I highly recommend reading Beautiful Disaster First. So, really quick, This book is about two people, Abby and Travis, who both have damaged pasts. The odds of them getting together and making it last are against them. Their hurricane love story takes you through a whirlwind of emotions and slams you into a wall or two during it's tumultuous ride.

I have only two semi-negative comments. One, while Dan Bittner did an awesome job narrating, I still had a preconception of Travis' voice being a little more rough or tough; and during intense emotional times of the story, I felt his voice should have given more of that inner turmoil, on the brink of breaking kind of vibe. Second, I am going to be perfectly honest. Beautiful Disaster is still my favorite between the two and continues to be on my favorites list.

With that being said, I loved this book and absolutely recommend it. Two thumbs up to Jamie McGuire. A definate must have companion to Beautiful Disaster!

Head over heels for Travis!

Loved the little bit of potty mouth in this love story. I can absolutely feel Travis's love for her. Since I listened to Beautiful Disaster first, I would recommend listening to either or first, since the story is from each of their perspectives. Definitely recommend Walking Disaster and Beautiful Disaster.

Great

Would you listen to Walking Disaster again? Why?

I've listened to this book too many times to count. After listening to the first book, it was great to hear the story from the male side.

Good change of POV

Where does Walking Disaster rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Abbey`s book was excellent, this is even better. The point where he goes home to his family following thanksgiving and collapses to the floor reduced me to tears. I was honest to God sobbing and not many books have done this to me. Seeing everything through his eyes lifted the book to another level. This has to be hard to write as you are forever referencing the first book whilst keeping the timelines. I nod my head in respect to the author for this one.

Very addictive

Interesting listen from Trav's point of view. If you liked Beautiful Disaster you'll love this.

Highly addictive, once I started it I didn't put it down.

Shame there isn't. 3rd and 4th book, maybe America's or Shipley's point of view?!?

Cute

I liked it a lot, not as much as the first one but it wasn’t a waste. Although because I read them back to back it did put me on a reading slump for the last 50 pages.
