Resumen del Editor

If you have Lyme disease, you know firsthand the desperation that comes from being misdiagnosed, misunderstood, and misdirected. You need straight answers and real solutions, but all you get is the runaround.

Riding high as a hard-driving entrepreneur in the solar industry, Taylor Nelson contracted Lyme disease in his mid-twenties. Spiraling down swiftly, he tried everything to feel like himself again, turning himself into a human guinea pig. He took coffee enemas and gave himself ozone injections. Police officers transported him to a psychiatric hospital (he talked his way out), and he gave sales sermons while on LSD—all because of Lyme. Years of experimentation and determination taught him how to manage a disease that can seem unmanageable.

Candid and raw, Nelson doesn’t hold back. He shares his deeply personal story, what he tried, how it worked, and how to live a full life in the face of a devastating disease.

Lots of Treatments Here

This author, in a desperate attempt to cure a disease that forced him to consider suicide, tries more treatments than I have ever seen. It's an interesting tale of navigating the health professions and life itself while dealing with a debilitating illness.

Almost all of the "evidence" for treatments here is anecdotal, a record of his own personal experience, and therefore should be of limited use to anyone in a similar position. He admits later in the book that some of these treatments may have harmed him. But anecdotal evidence is still evidence.

Sometimes the book feels a little self-promotional. To me that adds a tiny element of doubt. Is he maximizing the severity of disease to maximize the value of living through it? I don't think so though.

I chose this title because I thought I might have had contracted Lyme in the 70s before it was discovered and I will say that this book has made be think differently about that event. It's like - if this guy is so diligent about curing his disease - shouldn't I be more diligent about my own medical history.

Overall I am glad that this book was written, and glad that I read it, and I think it will affect my own medical choices in the future.

Vulnerable and honest

Very well written and well read book. It’s entertaining, honest, and real. Full of great insights to help others that are struggling with mental, emotional, and health related problems. Especially a great resource for those with Lyme (obviously) but the mindset applies for so many things.

One of my favorite lyme books!

I’m trying to listen to all lyme audiobooks! I have listened to most. I am biased because I met him in one of the lyme support meetings. We are more like acquaintances. I guess the tempe geoup didn’t leave much of an impression on him since he didn’t mentioned it. He did say that he wanted to keep writing but had to eventually stoppped. It’s interesting because he said he looks fine. I agree! I didn’t know his lyme was so bad! Or maybe because of my own lyme brain, I don’t remember. I do remember that he was thinking of doing SOT back then. Most people with lyme look normal. I have noticed that a few look like paler than usual. So that’s the only thing that I can talk most times with lyme people and not in all. I message him on Facebook every once in a while. I think it’s so cool that he wrote a book! I can relate to him because we are the same age! It’s cool to hear how lyme has affected his dating life. I feel like it definitely has affected mine! Most of the time after I tell a guy that I have lyme, I never hear back from them! I even say it sometimes to the guys that I’m not feeling. As a way to reject them without them knowing that I’m rejecting them, and it brings awerness to Lyme! With the guys that I like, I have learned to hide it! But unfortunately MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities) its harder to hide. I’m surprised he didn’t mentioned how much he spent on treatments! Maybe he didn’t want to discourage some. But if I remember correctly he posted that he has spent 100k!! I’m always interested in learning what others have done treatments wise when they have spent a lot of money on lyme. I learned a few things! I would consider myself an expert on lyme, just because of how many books, documentaries, etc I have read/watched. Most of us with lyme are like that. It’s sad how most treatments don’t help at all or barely help

Inspiring read for anyone & everyone, especially someone battling Lyme disease.

A story of true resilience & grit. I was really able to see the light in Taylor Nelson and how his sharing his story is a gift for others battling this disease or any other debilitating health journey. His journey of health, healing, suicide, spirituality, comedy, solar energy, life lessons, drive, determination, meditation, ambition, intuition, solution, surrender and self discovery is one well worth reading and/or listening. I listened on audible and really enjoyed witnessing Taylor’s charm, vulnerability and authenticity and within his story telling. Taylor|TJ is a beautiful human being on the inside and out. His stock graph of life is always looking up! His sense of self and journey of self love, purpose, principals, values and meaning.. while enduring a chronic illness, is incredibly inspiring!! I’m proud of him for having a compelling argument to himself to stay here on this earth. He sure was meant to. -Jenny
