Publisher's Summary

“As if waking up from a nightmare, I thought, If I am going to be traumatized, I might as well be traumatized in Paris, right?”

Devastated by the unexpected end of her decades-long marriage, renowned spiritual teacher and intuitive guide Sonia Choquette undertook an equally unexpected move and relocated to Paris, the scene of many happy memories from her life as a student and young mother. Arriving in the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, she found a Paris as traumatized by this unforeseen event as she had been by her divorce. Together, over the following years, she and the city she loves began a journey of healing that involved deep soul searching and acceptance of new, sometimes uncomfortable reality.

In this follow-up to Walking Home, Sonia shares her intimate thoughts and fears as well as the unique challenges of setting up a new life in a foreign land. From moving into a freezing, malodorous apartment to a more pleasant - yet haunted - flat across the Seine to her current light-filled home, Sonia shares how these changes parallel her inner transformation. Along the way, Sonia regales listeners with vivid stories of her unfortunate encounters with French hairdressers and beauticians, her adventures in French fashion, and her search for the perfect neighborhood café. Her companion throughout is the city of Paris - a character unto itself - which never ceases to fill her with wonder, surprise, and delight and provides her with the spiritual strength to succeed in establishing her new life.

Terrific!

Once again Sonia knocks it out of the park with her honesty, vulnerabi!ity and desire to share so others can learn as well from her journeys! Just another reason I follow Sonia's work and recommend her whenever I can!

REFRESHINGLY HONEST & HUMOROUS!

Throughout the book I got the feeling that Sonia was doing herself in (and sometimes her daughter) in her struggle to find herself but she also found humor during those times which is not an easy thing to do when life seems to be crashing down. Sonia's journey is our journey and yes.... Paris lives in of all of us!

An amazing personal story of loss and hope

My path has recently crossed Sonia’s work. I started listening to 2 of her books, connecting to your guides and the psychic path. And then just out of curiosity wanted to see how she is doing in her life and listened to this one. I must say she is a real story teller, I laughed loud at through the book while simultaneously felt the enormous pain below all what was happening. The book is extremely humbling and for me as a person at the beginning of this journey, also an eye opener. It shows how much our personalities affect our decisions and trust, no matter how well we are connected. It is a true story of life and waking up :)

I wanted to love this, but couldn't.

I love all things French, and Paris is where my soul is most at home, so I was certain I'd love this book. I was wrong. it's trite, boring, and has the worst narration I've ever heard. don't waste your money.

Harsh Critique !

I found this book exceptionally tedious and shallow in its content. The author delivers an account of her post marriage move from America to Paris to live. However the flavour is one of adolescent self absorption. Although set in Paris it reeks of American sensibility. I forced myself to finish it but wouldn't recommend it to any one.
