Publisher's summary

They are the first wagon train to cross the American continent—and forge the Oregon Trail. Five-hundred courageous men, women, and children, led by mountain man Whip Holt, they have survived the Rocky Mountain winter, fierce native attacks, and countless other hardships. Now, on the last leg of their journey, they face their greatest challenge yet.

Three mighty nations have sent explorers to stake their claims—the English army, Russian agents, and American pioneers—but only one can win. Devoted to the dream of a new home, Whip Holt finds himself divided by two women: his wife, who is courted by both the English and the Russians, and Cathy van Ayl Blake, who is married to an American commander. Together, these would-be settlers must fight for what they believe in, or die for what they love—in the name of freedom, justice, and destiny. This is their story—the birth of America.

wagons west

Loved reading it in The 80'S. Great listening as a Audio Book. Can't wait for the rest to be added as audio books.

One of the best in the Oregon series

This was one of the best stories of the 4 in the Oregon series so far, ties with Wyoming. Not spoiling anything by saying this, marital problems plot of the story was boring and depressing due to its exorbitant amount of coverage in the story, but overall a good story. As always it's a simple listen, but the narrator is fantastic. Easy to listen to if doing something else.

you don't need to love westerns to love these book

Telling the day to day, life adventures of the western pioneers is, as you can imagine, full of laughter, joy, heartbreak, action, adventure and suspense. It has it all!!! My husband and I read aloud to our children many years ago. I own all the books. Now, 25 years later, I am enjoying the audio version every chance I get along with my entire family.

Excellent book!! Like all of them in the series!

Oregon continues the saga, the settlers begin to set up their community and towns, the second wagon train arrives, and the Russians and English work to try to get them to leave. Thd characters make history come to life. Excellent narrator. I highly recommend the whole series.

Great story about the settlers of Oregon.

I really enjoyed this whole book. It had great arcs for all the characters. The performance by Phil Giantess was enjoyable with all his accents and voices.

Fun way to enjoy and learn American History

I expect I will contimue to order books from this series until I have read everyone of them. I really enjoyed learning about the annex of many American states via the blood and guts efforts of our early pioneers.
