Great story - disappointing narrator

I've really enjoyed this series. It's light reading (listening) with some laugh-out-loud moments. I was very disappointed when there was a switch in narrators. The person who can make you want to listen all night is invaluable, and unfortunately Angie Hickman cannot do so. I can't help comparing her monotonous manner of reading to Jessica Almasy's wonderfully expressive way of making the characters come alive. I definitely recommend the book - not the narrator.

This narrator 🤮

I love this series but one the narrator changed, it’s all gone downhill. Even listening at 1.7x, the narrator is robotic and in no way embodies the vastness of that should be “Aunt Peg.” Her voice is very much like that of a youngster learning to read, who has not neither mastered inflection nor intonation. I’ve decided to finish the series in book form so I can remember the voices of the original narrator.

I LOVE the Melanie Travis series can’t wait for the next book. But how this particular book on the homeless left a bad taste in my mouth. I’m hoping she will at least glance at this and try harder in the future.

Dark and rambling, too much unnecessary stretching of story, needs an editor. Not a good fit for Christmas.

Couldn't get past inferior narration

The narrator was just terrible. Especially after listening to Jessica Almasy, the great narrator of all the previous recordings. The narrator had an annoying cadence to everything she said with very little voice delineation between characters. I'm sure I might find the story just as entertaining as the rest of this series, but since I didn't get past the first quarter I'll never know. Sorry to see this series stall here.
