Barbara Daly Baekeland was a glamorous American socialite who thought she could de-gay her mentally ill son Antony Baekeland with her own novel form of conversion therapy. It didn't work out well for either of them. *sad face*

  • Salt Lake City, 1978: Anthony Adams and Douglas Coleman (Ep. 61)
    Feb 10 2026

Send J. Harvey a text! (Try to be nice, but I get it, everyone's a little cranky sometimes...)

Anthony Adams and Douglas Coleman were two gay men murdered in separate, unsolved crimes in Salt Lake City in November 1978 — the same month Harvey Milk was assassinated. Basically, the universe turned to gay dudes and said "this isn't your month, babe."

Hello! So, Buzzsprout has this Fan Mail feature that I've been totally ignoring. But some of you have actually used it! So I thought it would be cute to respond to some of your fan mail. Thank you for writing in, and thank you for listening. You guys are the literal best. Note I used the word "literal" to signify I really, really mean it. I'm being sincere here, which is sometimes difficult for me because I know that people hate sincerity, at least they hate public displays of it. See what I do for you?

I'm not not into crime stories and can't stand when my spouse watch them all night before bed but for some reason this podcast got me hooked. I love the music, stories, the way its told and the voice. please keep up the good work!!!

I'm Hooked

J Harvey does an excellent job of balancing true crime with gay wit without it ever feeling dismissive or exploitive. Generally subjects, including victims, are treated with sensitivity, and the background of perpetrators is occasionally discussed in a way that I think it was even a fuller picture of why this person did what they did.

Love the show & listen to every episode.

Someday I’ll demand to be on as a guest 😏
