Narration

The story was overall enjoyable, but the narration…that was a test of my will to sit through. The accents are jarring and the delivery is choppy. I was constantly taken out of the narrative based on the narration alone. The only way I made it through was by listening at 3x speed. The story is worth the read but not audibly…

HORRIBLE NARRATOR - recommend increasing speed

I have never in my life come across a narrator this horrible. I’m shocked there’s only 2 other reviews about it. Her accents are elementary, verging on culturally insulting, her voice is nasally & she talks extremely slowly. That said, the book came highly recommended so if you want to avoid putting your head through a wall - I’d recommend increasing the speed of the audio.

Book-hangover worthy author

This was my first audiobook. I was leery to try them thinking I would space out and not pay attention but the story catches your attention and holds it! I absolutely loved the Air Awakens series and had a book hangover for weeks after finishing it. It’s so great to be back in the Solaris world again!

Wow again. l just finished and l now really want to find the next book in series. The story kept my unwavering attention right the way through and some of the characters grew to feel like my friends. l fully recommend this impressive book. The narrator was perfect, the voices all recognizable and emotionally correct. It was a pleasure to listen too.

Loved This!!!

Hearing Vi brought to life like this was breathtaking! I was utterly captivated by the beautiful narration. I love this series so much. Vi totally has my heart as does Taavan! This was loaded with surprises that left me stunned and I admit freely that I'm begging for more! Elise Kova is so brilliant and one of my faves!!

Absolutely atrocious narration

Honestly, I can get through my fair share of bad narrators, especially with an author proven in storytelling the way Kova is. This one however, was beyond. I can’t for the life of me understand how more reviewers didn’t take issue with the narration. Kindle has a reader function that is like a robot narration for closed captioning purposes, that would put this narrator to shame. I don’t want to be mean, but honestly a speak and spell would have more life. She made this a painful and frustrating experience and if I continued to listen for one more moment may very well ruin the entire series for me. I would rather get my cavities drilled out than have to suffer at her hand for one more minute. If you like Kova, please don’t ruin her for yourself with this audio production

Narrator killed the story

The narrator was so bad that I couldn't make it past the 1st chapter! It is sad since the premise of the story sounded interesting.

It Was Love at First Sight

From the moment I first saw this book, I knew I would enjoy it with every fiber of my being. I am absolutely enraptured by the amount of care and description Kova uses in her writing. I was entranced from start to finish. I have a deep appreciation for magic systems and religion/deities in fantasy novels, because they're both ways to express utmost creativity. The world building O got to enjoy was absolutely beautiful.

I'm a long-time fan of the Graceling trilogy by Kristin Cashier, but I do believe Elise Kova has overtaken my favorites with Vortex Visions!

Sarah Sampino did the most wonderful job. This novel would not be the same without her skill. I loved the accents, they sounded real and authentic and I loved the different voices for each character, as they were consistent and helped me just enjoy listening instead of wondering who was talking.

Thank you for making one of my favorite reads to date!

Good story, if you can get past the naration

The story is a really great read. The story kept me intrigued for start to finish. However I don’t recommend the audio version. The narrator had a very nasally voice that drove me nuts.

Vortex Visions review

Thrilling and captivating, Vortex Visions Air Awakens: Vortex Chronicles, Book 1 by author Elise Kova and narrated by Sarah Sampino, a fantasy story tells the tale of main character Vi Solaris. With it’s unique characters and remarkable writing, I actually enjoyed listening to this, it’s interesting, and well worth the time in continuing on with the series.

Loved it!

The world created in Vortex Visions is unique and very interesting. There seems to be so much to explore and discover. I’m excited to do just that with Vi Solaris and her friends.
Vi is a young girl coming into herself. She has a great amount of power that she is just beginning to understand. She also has a connection with a man that she has never met but their destinies are intertwined. I really enjoyed watching their connection grow and evolve into something more.
Vi’s friends are wonderful. They are supportive and protective of her but I’m wondering if Vi will have to continue her quest without them.
It was a pleasure to begin this journey with Vi and her friends. I can not wait to find out what magical, thrilling and death-defying adventures lay ahead for everyone.

it was a bit slow at the beginning bit it got to me and I've been listening to it non stop. cannot wait to see what's happening next

Even better in audio

I’ve already read this whole series but was excited to listen on audible. I remember thinking the first book was my least favorite - that it was a bit slow as the series and characters were introduced. Listening to it on audio, that was not the case! I could hardly shut it off and listened to all 10+ hours in less than 2 days. The narrator brought the book to life in a way my imagination couldn’t.
This is one of my fav series and I highly recommend it!

I truly loved this book, the writer and narrator come together to take you to a completely different world. I can’t wait for more!

This will grab your vision

First in a series . The story has many levels , right when you think you know where the story is heading the author throws another direction that will have you glued till the end . This is a great fantasy book that is full of magic . You need a strong character to know how to control the elements to do what is needed .

Heroine is Vi .
Vi is promised to someone by her parents before she is even born . Vi is sent away from home , she’s sent North it’s only suppose to be for a certain amount of time but 14 yrs come and gone. Vi is wondering if she will ever go where she is suppose to. Vi is even more wondering what she can do when her magic shows a new element . Does she go home and marry who she is suppose to

Sarah performance is perfect. Her magic with her voice telling this story is strong, clear and smooth

A magical story!

The author has a wonderful imagination and an artist at telling a Sci-fi story. The author writes and wonderful story that you can get lost in. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I definitely recommend this book to everyone that loves a great Sci-fi story.

Sarah Sampino narration brings the characters to life for me. She is definitely awesome at the voices of the characters in each story she narrator’s. Her persona of each individual character is very entertaining with heartfelt emotions.

Great story

Just finished listening to all of Air awakens, which was just epic and so well narrated. Only to be horrified that these books have a different narrator who has given ‘russian’ accents to Jax! Who just doesn’t have one in the previous books. For such a great set of books it’s a pity the Narrator didn’t check to see who is who from the previous books..
Overall as much as I love this series, I won’t be continuing with the audible versions due to these discrepancies.
The story will be read not listened to.

Sarah damping is awesome to listen to

I am dyslexic and find it hard to connect to books now having found Sarah sampino through TikTok and listening to her books I have now completed several books this being the first one of a collection which I have bought the whole set to listen to and have fallen in love with the series which I never thought I could. The friendship that by Vi Jamie and aline Is so welcomed as they are not portrayed as defenceless female characters
