Great Beginning!

This book grabbed my attention and had me on the edge of my seat. I was all in and then .............I had to go get the next book to see what would be the fate of these characters!

Vindicated

A fantastic read. Aron lost her parents when she was younger. Then she finds out she has a twin brother. What else will she discover about her life. The Narrator done a great job. The Author has written a fantastic story that really brings out the Characters.
I highly recommend.

Just Okay

The narration didn't work for me. She was very monotone and had errors. Many words were mispronounced which makes it very hard to follow the story when you're listening rather than reading the words. She kept pausing in the middle of a sentence which was very distracting. I am glad it was pretty short as the errors made it harder for me to follow the actual story.

I liked the idea of the story but the execution wasn't quite there. All the chapters made it feel very broken up when the scene could have just continued.

Yikes. This makes me feel bad.

I was given a copy of this book and its sequel by the author in exchange for an honest review. I hope this means she is open to criticism.

First off, the narration. The narrator has little energy and often phrases sentences weirdly. It's not uncommon for her to pause halfway through a clause for a breath. There are also frequent errors in her reading. She will stumble over some words and even mispronounce others. The word "compromise" is used frequently in a chapter at the end of the book and is repeatedly mispronounced as "com-promise". Early on, she hilariously says "while she regained her continence" instead of what I assume was supposed to be "while she regained her confidence". Characters are given specific voices that very quickly disappear. Transitions between chapters were almost nonexistent. It felt like she was only given one take to do the book. I very quickly started listening to this book at 2.4x speed to just get through it. This book probably could have been closer to the two hours with a better narrator.

Unfortunately, the writing was also pretty poor. I'm giving two stars for story because it at least felt like the author was trying. This book is only 2 hrs and 48 minutes in length but has an alarming 47 chapters (49 including the intro and outro from Audible). Every conversation takes place in a new chapter even if the conversations happen back to back within the same scene, making the book feel very broken up. Chapter length does not vary much throughout the book meaning that scenes introducing characters took as much time as the brief action scenes towards the end. It felt like the author was trying to keep the plot moving but having very short chapters at the beginning left little time to establish characters. Despite the short length, the book still contains some filler. We're are repeatedly told that some characters don't like to get close to others from their point of view, another person's point of view, and then the character's point of view again. There were also some awkwardly placed flashback scenes crammed in toward the end that were probably supposed to develop the paper thin characters. Environment and personal appearance descriptions are sometimes minimal and often nonexistent. It's not uncommon for two or three sentences in a row to end in the same way. The book could've used another read through for some editing.

If I had paid for this book, I probably wouldn't have finished it and I definitely would've asked for a refund. Both the narrator and the author need more practice. Hopefully the sequel is an improvement.

Ruined by narration

The narration in this book is the worst I have heard, it was so mind numbingly dull and monotone I had a hard time concentrating on the story. The narrators phrasing was awful. She would often pause making you think she was at the end of a sentence then would suddenly continue. There were mistakes in her reading and transitions between chapters were abrupt. Listening at 1.25 helped a bit but not enough to give it more than one star. I wish I could say more about the story but because of the extremely boring narration I found my mind wandering too often.
