While taking a class trip to South America, 16 friends are ambushed, captured, and taken to a nearby village run by a madman. It becomes clear that this is no ordinary village. It is a village of slaves, psychological warfare, and pure terror. With nothing but her wits and the voice of her dead uncle to guide her, Brooke Kylee must find a way to escape the horror while still maintaining the one thing she has left: her sanity.

What did you like best about this story?

It is fast-faced, gritty, has well-cast characters and great dialogue. Hooks and his men kidnap a group of kids in the jungle with the intention of slaughtering them - all except one, a girl, who Hooks has designs on. But he and his men have underestimated the young lady.

This is a creepy little short story about a group of young people who are taken hostage by a bunch of unfriendlies in the jungle! The head guy Hooks takes a fancy to Brooke and has her taken to his tent...his intention is to wine and dine her...well she has other plans.....after there first encounter and he sees that she is a fighter, he leaves her alone and she ends up killing her guard....as she tries to rescue her friends, she finds them all dead and discovers that these captors are cannibals!!!! Village Americana is vintage Roberto Scarlato on steroids. His usual quirky, sweet, witty stories are nowhere to be seen in the jungles of South America. A group of students gets kidnapped by a repulsive group of degenerates lead by Lieutenant Craig Hooks. The children have no idea that they've run into a deranged cannibal who is eager to feast. He has a band of minion thugs who carry out his orders and they are wholly entranced with power. Hooks calls the shots, literally, and his orders are carried out , but they had no idea that they met their match with one girl in the group who could take them down, Brooke Kylee. She had the advantage of having her war veteran uncle's voice in her head, guiding her through "battle." This is definitely on the darkside with descriptive scenes of violence. It's a unique and difficult story, well-written.
The author did the narration and, as always, did it well!

Fascinating!

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is definitely only for mature audiences! I was taken aback at first because the book pretty much starts right in the middle of an interrogation. If I hadn’t have read the synopsis, then I wouldn’t have known what was going on at first. Other than that, I had no issues with the book at all. It was very graphic at times, but I knew that going in so it didn’t bother me. I enjoyed the book and give it 3.5 STARS.

3.5 Stars, pretty good but very graphic
