When secrets and lies threaten the throne, can a fierce champion tame her passion in time to stop a cruel enemy’s ruthless march?

Jutland, Early 11th Century. Viking Warrior Princess Lena craves revenge. Hunting a killer after her husband is brutally slain, she discovers a shadowy traitor is at play behind the scenes, working to disrupt the balance of power. But she places her need for vengeance on hold when the king falls gravely ill, and sails out along with the pretty slave she rescued to locate a fabled healer.

Gunnar is loyal to the core. But when his lord orders him to sabotage the princess’s royal mission, he’s plagued by an unfamiliar sense of doubt. And after he witnesses the courageous woman and her crew save his life in a vicious storm, he’s no longer certain he’s fighting for the right side.

Beset by foul weather and an uncharted island of trolls, Lena fears she’ll never avenge her husband’s death… even as her heart softens towards the lovely Celt girl she longs to embrace. And now Gunnar must decide where his fealty rests as the tides turn to war.

Can Lena and Gunnar survive a bloody grab for power and find a true home for their hearts?

Great Adventure Story!

I enjoyed listening to this book. The story was well-written, intriguing, and exciting. The author described the scenes quite vividly and consistently. That made it easy to get lost in the story. It was it was going to be a predictable but it wasn't. The characters were solid and charming. Some of the banters between them made me chuckle.

Erika LeonGuerrero did fantastic with her narration. She was very easy to listen to. Her character voices were appropriate and precise. Well done!

A grand adventure.

This story, while not as fast paced as some, was engaging and enjoyable. With believable, engaging characters who become caught up in the political and theological machinations that threaten the King's life and destabilize the peaceful land, we are taken on a dangerous journey. The settings are immersive and easy to visualize. My only real complaint is that it wasn't long enough. With a few more chapters we might have been able to see a bit more depth to world and explore more of the mythology.

Erika LeonGuerrero did a great job. The voice characterizations complemented the personalities, enhancing the immersion. Expressive tone and pacing were good throughout. A marvelous performance that carried the story without getting in the way.

Great Story - Read it!!

As a Dane I was looking forward to listen to the audiobook version of this book. And I definitely wasn't disappointed!

I loved the descriptions of the Viking world during the transcition from the old Norse religion to Christianity. And the Viking world was well descriped. The fantasy part was lovely too and I especially enjoyed the little trolls in Norway.

The storyline was well written and I really enjoyed the story about Viking warrior princess Lenas travel to Greenland to find a healer to cure her father-in-laws illness after the killing of her husband. I also loved that the growing love between Lena and Caitlin wasn't the main part but it added an important and lovely dimension to the book - and I would LOVE another book with their future adventures!!!

The audiobook was very well narrated by Erika LeonGuerrero
