All thanks to Vera, because Tilly's girlfriend is none other than Officer Selena Gray. The very same Officer Gray that she had harassed while investigating the teahouse murder. Still, Vera wishes more dead bodies would pop up in her shop, but one mustn't be ungrateful, even if one is slightly...bored.

Then Vera comes across a distressed young woman who is obviously in need of her kindly guidance. The young woman is looking for a missing friend. Fortunately, while cat-sitting at Tilly and Selena's, Vera finds a treasure trove: Selena's briefcase. Inside is a file about the death of an enigmatic influencer—who also happens to be the friend that the young woman was looking for.

Online, Xander had it all: a parade of private jets, fabulous parties with socialites, and a burgeoning career as a social media influencer. The only problem is, after his body is fished out of Mission Bay, the police can't seem to actually identify him. Who is Xander Lin? Nobody knows. Every contact is a dead end. Everybody claims not to know him, not even his parents.

Vera is determined to solve Xander's murder. After all, doing so would surely be a big favor to Selena, and there is nothing she wouldn't do for her future daughter-in-law.

Oh how I have missed Vera. Thank you for bringing her back to us. Involving characters from the 1st book and bringing in new ones. Please tell me there will be a 3rd book.....Maybe Vera on vacation??

Vera’s manipulation of the English language is hilarious.

Love the way positive relationships are intertwined as the plot unfolds. Didn’t think the author could produce an even better book but she did and I can’t wait for the next publication.

A very entertaining story. I enjoyed listening to it. Anxious to read the series.

amazing narration

the narration was absolutely amazing! It really felt like their were three people reading this book!

narration aside book two lost some f it's magic that book one had. it was nice to read that the stakes were higher in novels two but the new characters were just sooo whiny. the only new characters that I actually liked were TJ and Robin and they had the least amount of screen time. I hope in book three she does more investigating and makes new friends that are less insecure and annoying.

Self-help hiding as Cosy Crime

This series is wonderful. Investigations by Vera remind me of my own Eastern European family and her advice and 1-1 chats with the characters always make me feel better about life and like Vera is telling me that I’m doing well and eventually my hard work will pay off. Everyone needs a Vera and this is yet another amazing series from one of my favourite writers. Excellent job, Jesse

Fun read!

Vera Wong never disappoints! I loved the banter between her and Winifred. I loved the storyline -all the characters were wonderful. The narrator did an outstanding job.
