Publisher's Summary

Nightmares plague Max Duncan...and not just the undead type.

No one ever confused Max with being an emotionally stable individual. Now, her mind is consumed with the need for revenge. Her body has healed from the torture she endured at the order of the remaining government. However, her mind can’t let it go.

When an accident causes Max to reevaluate the road she’s trying to go down, she is reminded of what’s important. As the world continues to crumble around the Duncan family and the dead continue to feast on the living, Max has to figure out how to put aside her need for vengeance.

In a world where every day is a threat to her life, Max must learn to work together with her family to keep them all alive. She won’t stop until they can stop looking over their shoulders and feel safe once again.

Waste

Love the first few Books but this one was totally pointless. Very disappointed. Nothing happens what the heck.

Getting Pretty Tired of Max

I have enjoyed this series and have binged listened to the books, but books 4 and 5 have begun to go downhill. Though I still like most of the characters in the group I am getting tired of Max's adolescent behavior.

Though Max has never been my favorite character, I find myself getting more annoyed by the minute with her pouting and her "I can go it alone" attitude.

I am only halfway through this book; I hope it will get better since the story is pretty focused on her.

a great series.

Courtney Konstantin is one hell of an author. The characters are very rich and lifelike. From the beginning, you can't help but want much more. The next chapter, the next delimma, the next problem. The family is on their own, people are out to kill them, all for a lie. I sincerely hope that there is another book in this series.

(Great Narration) but "Disappointed" in the book

I DO NOT like leaving reviews. However I think I will this time. This has been one of the best series I have following from the start. I really like the content and the characters. I have wait for Book 5 for a good while like all who follows the series. Unlike the books 1-4, Book 5 took me no were. "My option only" it seem to be a little out of order. It should have covered Max's PTSD in book 4. I'm guessing in Book 6 will talk about Alex's PTSD. This puts you one whole book in between the trauma that occurred to those main characters. This book should have been 4.5 or Books 4-5 should have been one. The time frame was just about 4 weeks maybe 5. For them to be on the offensive, There was no real hunt for Calhoun. No probing of the area he was suppose to be in etc. There was good information from East and Candice Father ETC , I can go on but I'm sure the real followers may or may not agree.
One cannot fault the narrator for reading what they are given. "Tess Irondale" has been consist with all the characters.

One of my favorite series

I really enjoy following along with Max, Raf and Alex. Taught by their father to always be prepared, they have to battle monsters, both undead and alive. Who will come out alive? Seriously, get this series.

I love Courtney’s writing. Always amazing. Just wish I didn’t have to wait to know the Duncan families finished story. Lol. But I will wait because I have to know.

Repetitive and slow plot, mostly rehash of other books

Very disappointing
First the story, very slow, writing style is choppy and actually worse than other books. Quit describing every insignificant item. Stop at book 3. Save a credit.

Narrator could hAve done a better job, Cadence great for going to sleep

The Duncan family is my goal!

As usual, Konstantin delivers again! I couldn't stop listening. I realized the sun was coming up when I finished. Well worth the sleep deprivation.

Excellent

So worth the wait.
The Challenges that the family face in this instalment are heart breaking, tough and challenging but again the writing is fluid and strong and the character development and especially between the siblings is so well done, flawless really that the journey the book and author take you on is a world wind of emotion. It's thought provoking really... so many times I'm expanding and looking at situations in my life and changing perspective while listening. so powerful.
Again the narration is faultless.... The narrator is never overly dramatic. Never too much. The cast are all easily recognisable, making the storyline easy to follow by ear.
So deserving of 5☆'s. Another smash hit. XxX

Disappointing and pointless

Very much enjoyed and devoured Books 1-4, and eagerly anticipated this Book 5.

Now I'm sad that a whole credit was wasted on this installment, which only provides a very minor story progression. I don't want to insert a spoiler, but the whole premise of this book could have been done in an hour. It was hugely repetitive and pointless and can only be described as a cash grab capitalising on the success and brilliance of the first 4 books.

The most pertinent part relating to Easton was pretty much ignored... I suppose that's setting up the next installment and continuing to drip feed the story to maximise books and sales. Call me cynical, but book signals the end of the road for me and the Duncans.
