From NAR Coach Zari Ballard, the author of When Love Is a Lie: Narcissistic Partners & the Pathological Relationship Agenda...

"When we love a toxic person such as a narcissist, we spend much of our time in the relationship rabbit hole and will become quite acclimated. Our eyes adjust to the darkness and our skin becomes just thick enough so that most bullshit rolls off. It is a hole that feels endless...and somewhere between its ominous opening and this infinite endlessness is where our toxic love resides.” (Zari Ballard, Vacancy in the Rabbit Hole)

The bad behaviors of toxic people should never determine our self-worth. Narcissists play the Game of Life by a different set of rules than everyone else, and they count on the fact that you haven’t studied their playbook. This book will help you train your brain to turn the tables on partner narcs and take charge of your life once and for all.

Zari’s long-awaited fifth book about narcissism in relationships provides a road map to recovery for those seeking to lessen the setback of emotional suffering. Vacancy in the Rabbit Hole analyzes the breakup on a personal level and discusses the phases of suffering, trauma bonding, coparenting, and the question of forgiveness. As always, Zari speaks from an experience that listeners who have “been there, done that” will understand and appreciate. If you’re seeking a way out of the madness, this book will take you on a journey that you don’t want to miss.

It’s time to step beyond the borders of suffering after the narcissist and beat these vampires at their own game without even trying. And believe it or not, it’s as simple as changing your perspective.

I think it's really a good book. It helped me. I'm probably going to listen to it a couple more times and cry. And every day I think it's getting easier. No, I don't know. Thank you. Stay strong.

How many similarities there are to everyone's relationships with a narcissist

If you’re trying to leave or have recently left your N, her books are must have. I can’t put into words the strength and understanding I’ve gained through the sharing of her story.

I liked that the author, standing in is trying to turn her pain into helpful advice for others experiencing similar mistreatment. Sounds like she has a blog and community of like-minded people supporting one another and she must be commended for this. But the dark angry tone and story-telling leaves one feeling cold and depressed, feeling heavy with guilt and regret. There wasn’t really anything new or to be heard from this author or applied for a reader seasoned with this treatment having read a lot of books and articles. It might be a wake up call for someone just coming into awareness of narcissism. I would like to hear more about how her life has been redeemed, how she is living happy and free. I would like to hear more of how experience with these narcissistic partners shed light and how the victims found meaning in their suffering, giving more hope and encouragement to those who are grieving. My heart breaks for the author, and myself, but why are we such fools to remain victims. Help us control the controllable. Why, what is our deeper desire, that we were targeted, or was it just a random act of violence against us? I don’t feel this question gets answered. Thus I continue to be vulnerable, sad, and angry.

Most sincere. Raw. Bitter. Angry. Pragmatic. Unapologetic.
