Publisher's summary

How does a pro-choice doctor who once performed abortions for Planned Parenthood wind up on the opposite side of this embattled issue? Dr. Patricia Giebink was overpowered by God’s perspective at a healing conference, becoming a pro-life advocate who repented before millions for doing abortions.

As the author tells her emotional story, you will come away with a new understanding of the complexity of life, the risks of abortion, the power of prayer, and the greatness of God’s love and forgiveness - which is big enough to cover the pain of all affected by this controversial procedure.

Unexpected Choice is told from the perspective of a doctor who actually performed abortions through Planned Parenthood. The book chronicles her journey from being a pro-choice physician to someone speaking on behalf of the pro-life movement.

Very moving story

I appreciated this doctor sharing her very difficult story. She would be a traitor to some and a hero to others, I admire her courage to protect the unborn AND women.

just listen.

No hate, no coercion, just understanding. Highly recommended for those on both sides of the road.

A difficult personal journey

This was a but difficult to read in the end because there was more introspection than needed. But that's just my view. The book as a whole is good, and a ray of hope for everyone. Often we love to judge and say that those with the best intentions or those fooled by a lie with good intentions can't be redeemed (even if they open their hearts to religion and feel truly repentant). But this story as Abby Johnson's reminds us that this is simply untrue. We can find the light - but we have to repent. David committed terrible deeds, so did Solomon and other biblical figures. And let's not forget those social and religious crusaders outside of the holy books. They weren't born saints or fighters. They got turned into ones after coming face to face with horrors of their own creation or those they turned a blind eye to. This story is no different. She admits her faults, offers hope and pulls no punches regarding of how difficult a journey towards redemption and awareness is.
Abortion has become a difficult subject to talk about. Regardless of where you stand, you still have to read this, as well as those from other insiders that show us a different picture from what the media offers us.

Authentic. Vulnerable. Redemption

This truly was such an excellent read. I heard Dr. Giebink on Family Life Radio. I learned soooo much about abortion and the laws in place on both sides. I appreciated her full transparency. No one is exempt from redemption. Absolutely no one. I’m glad she was able to heal and then use her story as a powerful testimony. I pray this book can become a testament to the transforming love of Jesus Christ.

The only con, and a very little one, I would say was that as much as I thought the narrator did an excellent job as far as enunciation, diction, and even tone at times, I still often felt that she her voice didn’t match the story being told if that makes sense.

Overall absolutely excellent!

I feel well informed now!

I love the way God works all the pieces of the puzzle of our lives together, even before we know Him, He’s working. What an incredible testimony of God’s power and grace! I learnt a lot I didn’t already know but it confirmed a lot of my suspicions about the abortion industry. I couldn’t listen to this book fast enough.
