Publisher's Summary

Most incidents and accidents are down to "human error". Unfortunately, human error is normal and common, and we can't get rid of it. However, we can reduce the likelihood of one of those - "oh shit moments" - if we have an understanding of human factors and develop our non-technical skills.

This is a globally unique book containing decades of research and practice from high-risk domains translated into the world of recreational and technical diving. This is done through the use of numerous detailed case studies to highlight the value and applicability of these skills.

This book is a must for all divers who want to manage their risks more effectively and have fun in the process.

Great book on why we do what we do

Not just for divers. A great read that list of applications, not just for diving. He breaks down how and why we often make the choices that we do and helps us understand how to do it better. Could be very dry, but he manages to make it interesting enough that I kept listening. Well worth the time.

hold your breath

i started listening to this book and found the stories outside my life experiences and environment but the lessons prestemted were well organized and made interesting. plus several of my favorite behavioral scientists and heros were referenced. loved the liten, also ordered the book as there were several things that i feel i need to both see and explore in greater depth.

An essential analysis of the dive safety mindset.

Sadly some training organizations pay far too little regard to a safe methodology, it's as I grow older as a divemaster that I realise how good the training I personally received was, so much of my skill set was gained by diving for years at the beach I trained on, under the constant gaze of my instructor, now very good friend. This book would have been a constant source of debate then. I'm just starting to re-listen to it.
