Publisher's Summary

When we were 11, Oliver Ford Pemberton dared me to jump off a barn roof. He said you couldn’t break a leg from a 12-foot jump. He lied.

(You can also break a collarbone, which served him right as far as I was concerned.)

I wish I could say it was the last dare I ever took from him, the last bet I ever made with him, the last time I ever trusted Oliver Ford Pemberton. But it wasn’t.

Because he had the nerve to grow up gorgeous, charming, and sexy. And as we got older, the dares only got dirtier - and the betting stakes higher - until finally, he left me in pieces. I swore I’d never talk to him again.

But 20 years after I took that flying leap, he’s back in my life, daring me to risk everything for him: my job, my self-worth, and my heart. How many chances does true love deserve?

Loved the series💥💥💥💥💥

I loved Book 1 with Teddy and Savannah and really enjoyed Book 2 with Stephen Dexter. Savannah's character Chloe was all sassy yet vulnerable and had lots of spunk and spirit!!! Stephen's character Oliver could be spoiled, egotistical and selfish a lot, but he demonstrated some enduring moments at times. It's hard to get original story lines with over 600 books in your library but listening to Oliver and Chloe as kids, to teenagers, to young adults to adults was entertaining. The past and the present bought these two together endearingly. And I really like these narrators. Melanie Harlow is a great author. I love her writing and the humor, steam and chemistry in her books.

No for me

Story was good but. I like imperfect characters but I had difficulty to feel the love. It seemed more about sex. After stunt in Chicago I would like more groveling. Didn’t like at all swearing with F bombs and Lord’s name.

Meh…

Cute premise of childhood buddies developing into adulthood romance but too sappy on the execution for my taste.

Love/hate relationship!

Chloe and Oliver’s story begins at childhood when they’re co-conspirators, rivals and rebels bucking the rules and daring each other to do outrageous things like jump out of her family barn. As they grow up the dares and mischief grow alongside them but their rivalry has become a love/hate relationship with heartbreaking consequences. I loved Chloe’s feistiness and her dedication to her family and their business and her reluctance to trust Oliver when they’re pushed to work together. Oliver might be a wealthy, privileged business man but he’s lied to her too many times in their lifelong relationship and she’s right to be leery of his many broken promises in their past. How can she tell when he’s telling the truth? I listened to the audiobook version and I really enjoyed the delightful narration performances of Savannah Peachwood and Stephen Dexter.

MY HEART

Okay, so most of the story I really liked Oliver as a person, but mannnnnnn that guy gets away with ALOT. And for how much he hurts her, it really bothered me that there wasn’t more….of a grand gesture. Don’t get me wrong, it was cute and sweet, but grrrrrr. I spent most of the story with my mouth hanging open at some of the stunts he pulled. And he would do them without remorse too!! Ugh. And it bothered me how much Chloe just melted every time. I mean Stephen dexter’s voice is so swoony that I admit I would’ve forgiven him too. But still. Oliver had a lot to make up for, and I wish he wasn’t always the one doing the hurting. I wanted more of him protecting Chloe against the hurt. That being said, the story still hit me in the feels, and the ending was so good that you almost forget how frustrating he was for the whole book. Lol. Definitely worth a listen. Their story is worth being told and heard. Very cute.

Oliver & Chloe

Where to begin
The pluses
-The storyline and Melanie's way to craft a love a story
- The Characters
- The Then and Now references letting you see their History and the continuous hurt and lack of consciousness and immaturity of Oliver
- Chloe and Olivers Dares and bets.
The negatives
- Olivers actions were irredeemable he was a selfish arrogant asshat the way he continuously and purposely hurt Chloe.
- Chloe's continuous forgiveness not making Oliver accountable for his assholery over and over again over the 20 year relationship.
- I love Stephen Dexter but his voice did not match a man who was such a dick as Oliver, but his voice is swoony.
- The intimate scenes were not as hot and steamy for the angst they both shared.
I gave the Story only 3 stars because really its written by Melanie Harlow and the story was a good one, just didn't like the continuous bullshit that Oliver dished out against Chloe and her meek forgiveness of his immaturity in how he treated her through out their relationship only to have a last minute but weak grand gesture. A good Epilogue would have showed them married several years later and their kids giving them payback for their youth. At least Chloe got her HEA

One of my favorite stories

A rocky childhood friendship turns into heartbreak as adults but eventually the lovers discover that they can’t resist each other.

What a cad!

Chloe would have had to love Oliver forever to put up with his behaviour.
Spoilt, rich, entitled. He played on it for all he was worth .
He prevaricated right to the proposal. He refused to believe he was in love with Chloe so many times, it was sad.

This was a good story and quite different.
I enjoyed it more than the first book.
I’m ready to read the read of the Cloverleigh Farm books
