Fans can’t get enough of New York Times best-selling author MaryJanice Davidson’s Queen Betsy vampire tales, which combine sly humor, romance, and the supernatural.

In her 11th adventure, following Undead and Undetermined, Betsy’s up to her fangs in paranormal trouble. Still heartbroken over her friend Marc’s sacrifice, Betsy is further plagued by nagging suspicions that her half-sister, Laura, is up to no good. It seems that Laura has received an offer to assume her mother’s duties overseeing Hell - but only if she first kills Betsy.

Where does Undead and Unstable rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As a result of a series that was losing momentum, this book attempts to recapture the reader's interest by bringing together a lot twists and resolving them somewhat by the end of the book. Not to give anything away, but this book does give insight into the others and does answer quite a few of the more confusing questions. Can't speak for everyone but the series was getting a bit confusing to me.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Sinclair, although the narrator's voice for him is a bit corny. Keep in mind that Betsy has a pretty foul mouth in this book especially!

What does Nancy Wu bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Nancy Wu is a great Betsy.

Better than the last one...

Do people really use that excuse? It seems trite, but in Betsy’s case I think it applies. Worst part is I hope Laura will forgive her. Just as good and fun as all the others have been. Yay Betsy!

The devil made me do it

I do so love Betsy and Sinc-lair and Tina and the whole bunch but unfortunately this series seems to be running out of steam. Lots of relatively random "stuff" went on in this book but nothing ever seemed to actually happen. I enjoyed learning more background but otherwise the book was not all that engaging. It felt like Ms Davidson was really struggling to think up things for Betsy to do.

If I hadn't already listened to (and loved) the previous ones I'm not sure I would have even finished listening to this one. It sort of droned on and then something would happen and then it would drone on again and then something else would happen that wasn't really related to the first thing that had happened. There were several times I checked to see how much more was left.

Sinclair was mostly absent. Their relationship was what really made the series for me and without their interaction the rest of it was just time spent hoping for Sinclair and Betsy to get together but it never happened. Even Betsy was getting frustrated at their not connecting.

While I think the narrator does an excellent job, Sinclair's voice seems almost snide when he speaks to Betsy. Sort of like a husband who has a chickie on the side and is just putting up with his dingbat wife who he can just barely stand - there isn't any more chemistry between them. And the way Betsy treats him who could blame him. I'm pretty sure that's not the intent but that's how it strikes me. I don't think I will puchase any more in the series (if there are more). Ms Davidson needs a new vampire to write about (werewolves don't interest me much) because I really do enjoy her writing.

Undead and Uninteresting ...

However, I felt the author was meeting her word count with Betsy's tirades rather than actually advancing the plot. This is why I gave it a 3 for story. I still listened to this non-stop which, for me, is a good thing. I like the original Laura and didn't care for the direction the books are taking with her character. I also thought Sinclair was turning into a wimp. On the plus side, I liked the way the major issue was resolved. I hope Ms Davidson continues to bring the series back up to her earlier standards.

I liked this
