Publisher's Summary

After the recent near-destruction of the USS Hamilton, Captain Galvin Quintos has been lying low, getting the USS Jefferson ready for service.

In the midst of refurbishing the vessel, he gets a call for help from his former XO, new starship captain Gail Pristy. The Varapin have lured the Ninth Fleet into a devious trap, and it’s not long before Quintos has his orders to hurry to the rescue. But the Varapin have a colossal new warship - one that puts anything the US Space-Navy has to shame. Even after Quintos assembles a crew, he’ll still need to pull a few rabbits, along with a few Symbio Poths, out of a hat to have any chance of surviving the coming battle. And Quintos’ one last hope - reuniting with a past enemy - may prove as dangerous as fighting the Varapin themselves.

Better than the book.

Why do I say that? the author is too GD WORDY While I very much enjoyed the story line of this and the other books in the series I just don't have the time to give to IT. With the audio book I can listen to the story while driving or doing other things.

Spoiler

The d and d holodeck is alright. Little early to decide on the whole book I'm maybe a few hours in but I gotta say I'm now disgusted by viv. Her character development just makes you despise her if you care anything about the main character or just personal relationships at all.

CR*P I Forgot what an insulting idiot this author

It's a decent (barely) Scifi Space combat series... that was destroyed by idiotic forced character interplay. Obvious solutions to combat with tools at hand are ignored. Deliberately making the characters behave like morons. In short it looks like The book was edited after submitted by someone desperately needing to level up their " I'm a Flaming D@uche and I love to Insult people's intelligence " title.
==>Author GET an editor that knows what they are doing, Has a brain and will tell you no and hell no. Otherwise you are Destin to stay a horrific writer.

Can’t stop listening!

Just like the first 2 books, I could not stop listening this book! Mark’s way of writing makes you feel as if you were right there with the crew!

Another Great Book in the series.

I hope that there will be a few more coming in this series. I think Hardy might be my all time favorite Sci-Fi character. But I love the universe that Mark has created and Captain Quintos. He's designed some very interesting foes for the crew and the book flows very well.

Overall one of my favorite Series and definitely my favorite of Marks various series that he's written.

That ruined the story for me.

Chapter 42 completely threw the whole vibe and story off. otherwise it would be 5 stars

I still don't really understand this series except

Except I really, really enjoyed this book and the series so far.
Yes, again where the author finds all the hats to full the proverbial rabbit from I'am not sure.
Its a quirky series that no-one should enjoy, but after book (4) Iam just hoping book (5) doesn't take too long to appear.
A special note of thank you, must go to narrator James Patrick Cronin.
His depiction of Hardy is worth the cost of the book itself.
