Publisher's summary

I've watched her for years without her knowing.

In fact, she thinks I hate her, probably because I've worked hard to make her feel unwelcome.

Wren knows I don't want her in my family. At least not as my son's wife. What she doesn't know is the reason why.

See, I want her for myself. It should be my ring on her finger, not his.

When my son betrays her, I'm there to pick up the pieces.

I can't resist her any longer, but just because she isn't his doesn't mean I can keep her.

After all, two wrongs don't make a right.

Sooo HOT!

I loved the Daddy Kink along with the addition of some of the DS aspects. Well written story and pleasant ending. But I didn’t want it to end. Must read!

What a story

Beautiful story, great male narrator, the missing star is for the female narrator who at most times sounded very robotic with sentences that didn’t flow. Lots of stops in the middle of sentences. Other than that, it’s was fantastic!!

the forbidden but so right.

This was a great story the author killed it. Feeling sad for the girl at the begaining. then so happy she got hers in the end.

Great storyline, ok narration

I loved listening to this story. It was the right amount of plot and spice to keep you engaged throughout. Female narrator was fine, but spoke oddly slowly. It was slightly distracting at times but not so bad that you can’t enjoy the listen.

Great book and narration

This was my first book by this author. I really enjoyed the depth of the story and the dual POV narration was fantastic, especially Samantha Summers. I really felt Wren’s emotion and sense of loss throughout the story.

This is one complicated shitshow, but good enough

The pacing of this story is good. It moves along at a nice clip and has an interesting plot. There's only one 'plot desert' in the middle - where nothing really happens in favour of a whole lot of sex and emotional blah blah blah, which is forgivable. I've spent a long time looking for a book as high-quality taboo as Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas. This is comparable, if not slightly darker. It's Birthday Girl with a dash of Don't Kiss the Bride by Carian Cole.

Griffin Hale (H) was way more morally grey than Pike Lawson. He yearned for Wren (h) while she dated/married his son. Then he jumped into a sexual relationship with her while she was still his son's wife (separated). IMO their story should have been a slower burn with way more conflicted feelings, but it still worked. Add in a massive age gap, a bunch of spicy daddy kink, and some mild bdsm (which isn't my thing) and this whole book is morally grey. This isn't the first romance I've read where a formerly abused woman is called a "natural submissive." Is she tho????? Or are these heroes taking advantage of a heroine who needs mental help to reestablish boundaries? So yeah, this story is a smidgen depressing, but not miserable. The secondary characters (Bess, Donovan, Delores) add a lot of levity.

I liked Griffin's protective nature with Wren, but disliked his divided loyalties when it came to his degenerate son Liam. And brace yourself because he never cuts ties with that POS. Liam was a narcissistic sociopath who never really got punished. Being a good parent does not mean boarding a sinking ship with your child. THEY NEED TO GET INTO THE LIFEBOAT. The 3rd act break up/make up/epilogue was disappointing to me, the author may have tied up loose ends, but there was no justice. The happy future felt unrealistically fast and sickly sweet.

Baby bird finds her way 💙

I enjoyed the story, even though there was a lot of awkward issues they had to deal with. It was a little predictable & he made some questionable choices but overall it was fun and I liked the writing. The narration was okay, not my favourite but not that bad. I really enjoyed the epilogues and getting the HEA aftermath.
