Publisher's Summary

Jeffery Deaver loves writing short stories. "All bets are off," he says. "Short stories are like a sniper's bullet. Fast and shocking. I can make good bad and bad badder, and most fun of all, really bad seem good." And that is exactly what he does in these 17 superb tales.

This is a collection of short stories that is instantly gripping and impossible to leave alone, taking your breath away time and time again. Nothing is as it seems...

The Good JD, not the bad one

Jeffery Deaver is, to me at least, one of those frustrating authors can write brilliantly compelling books, but doesn't always do so and tends to turn out either good ones or bad ones. This is a good one. There is one story, set in Elizabethan England where the dialogue is so bad it's embarrassing - but that's the joy of the short story I suppose: and the other 15 are fully 5* reads. The stories pique your interest quickly and have you caring about the outcome.

Perfectly titled!

This book has more twists than a Chubby Checker impersonator competition. I only guessed one ending and was miles off on most of the others. Previously not a huge fan but Jeffery Deaver has won me over with this collection of short, snappy, mind boggling stories which are never as they appear. I can't wait to find more short stories by this author.
