Entertaining romcom

Though romcoms are generally formulaic, and this is no exception, the characters and story arc are creative and engaging. Some things like the way Jo and Caleb trauma bonded, seem far-fetched. However, I’ve known of real life people who came together in even more unlikely ways … so can suspend my disbelief.

There were two dangling threads that I wish had been resolved. One was with Jo’s mom and how their relationship might’ve been changed by how the story ended. They’re also seem to be something unfinished about Jo’s relationship with her brother. Maybe I missed something, but I didn’t understand the basis for the estrangement and leaving that unresolved felt like a missed creative opportunity. Maybe there is meant to be a prequel or a sequel that will tie up some of those loose ends.

I loved this story. It brought tears to my eyes and made me laugh out loud. Beautiful story of loss and love. Great listen.

I loved the characters complexities. Great narration! Storyline. And what an amazing original song. I have heard other original songs in previous audiobooks I’ve listened to and had to hold back a laugh because, clearly the author was no songwriter, but this song, and her voice should be released as a single for real! Loved this from beginning to end!

What a stunning debut from Briana J. Newstead. This epic, character-driven love story will destroy your heart before Newstead expertly puts it back together. Jo and Caleb have deep wounds from past trauma, along with impenetrable walls of armor, but slowly, they begin to chip away at each other's defenses and heal themselves in the process. On top of this beautiful love story, the writing is breathtakingly lyrical. Newstead immerses the reader in the midst of a European concert tour, with vivid descriptions at every turn. And thanks to the magic of Audible Originals, we get to hear the music. This love story was truly brilliant and I cannot wait to see what Briana does next.
