Team leader Levi, call sign Ace, doesn't have much confidence in Jina - whom he dubbed Babe as soon as he heard her raspy, sexy voice - making it through the rigors of training. The last thing he needs is some tech geek holding them back from completing a dangerous covert operation. In the following months, however, no one is more surprised than he when Babe, who hates to sweat, begins to thrive in her new environment, displaying a grit and courage that wins her the admiration of her hardened, battle-worn teammates. What's even more surprising is that the usually very disciplined GO-team leader can't stop thinking about kissing her smart, stubborn mouth...or the building chemistry and tension between them.

Meanwhile, a powerful congresswoman is working behind the scenes to destroy the GO-teams, and a trap is set to ambush Levi's squad in Syria. While the rest of the operatives set off on their mission, Jina remains at the base to control the surveillance drone, when the base is suddenly attacked with explosives. Thought dead by her comrades, Jina escapes to the desert, where, brutally tested beyond measure, she has to figure out how to stay undetected by the enemy and make it to her crew in time before they're exfiltrated out of the country.

But Levi never leaves a soldier behind, especially the brave woman he's fallen for. He's bringing back the woman they left behind, dead or alive.

Great story

Lived this book. one of my favorite Linda Howard books.I had been waiting gor a new book by Ms Howard and She didn't disappoint.

A new approach from Linda Howard… don’t pass this one over!

I loved it! It’s obvious a ton of research was put into this book before sitting down to write it. I was absorbed and mesmerized from start to finish. Linda Howard created a detailed world full of lovable characters and interesting action. The organic connections and relationship growth amongst all the characters was amazing. One of my favorite all time books by this author! I usually greatly prefer dual narration. But this narrator did a superb job.

Didn't think I would like it at first.

First, the narrator, Saskia Maarleveld, did a great job and seemed perfect for this book. The heroine of this story was supposed to have a husky voice, and so does Ms. Maarleveld. She also did a great job with the male characters' voices.
At first I thought that I had mistakenly selected a cheesy romance novel, but the story is well written and interesting, I ended up enjoying it.

Enjoyed this immensely. Loved the narration and we females all love to hear about a strong, badass woman.

I have listened to this book several times. I never get tired of it. Linda Howard did it again.

The story

The story and the reader of the book was excellent. The story kept me held on throughout the whole book.

suspenseful but hilarious

this book had me DYING of laughter. like seriously Babe was so funny and her whole dynamic with the team was awesome. I loved it!

Very rushed ending after dragging a bit in other places

Not much romance but a lot of character development with the main heroine Jina or “Babe .“ This continues the story begun in “Heartbreaker” and in the last few minutes includes a surprise casualty that was so out of character for the person it made no sense. The scenes about skydiving were the most entertaining. Hope we see more of the team and more Jina and Levi though we know more her than him. Maybe sequels like Suzanne Brockmann does with her seals.

Another Linda Howard book that was a well built story great characters and riveting. I highly recommend it
