In book 1 of this steamy new contemporary Western romance series by two blockbuster authors, a cowboy and a woman on the run take a stand and fight for love.
Carlin Reed lives in fear, off the grid, moving from place to place. So Battle Ridge, Wyoming, a small town in the middle of nowhere, seems like a good place to lie low for a while. But after becoming cook and housekeeper to cattle rancher Zeke Decker, Carlin suspects that she’s made her first mistake. Rugged, sexy, and too distracting for his own good, Zeke is pure temptation mixed with something deep and primal that makes Carlin feel almost safe. Soon things are getting way too hot in the kitchen.
Zeke doesn’t challenge Carlin’s terms: cash, dead bolts, and no questions. It is easy to see that she’s a woman in trouble. Problem is, he’s so blindsided by his attraction to her he can’t think straight. Zeke tries to stay all business, no complications - but that game plan is sabotaged the second Carlin gets under his skin. And when her terrifying past follows her to the ranch, Carlin faces a heartbreaking choice: run away from the man she loves, or put him in the crosshairs of a madman.

carlin is a woman on the run yet she cannot curb her natural tendency to be sassy and smart mouthed. The characters are likable and real and the story line believable. The performance could not have been better. Narrators can make or break a book. Maggie wheeler nailed the Carlin. She's narrated this book so well that I would by an unknown author were she on the credits. Well done to the writer and the narrator!!! A big thumbs up!

This is a long slow romance that savors the 'build' of a relationship and delivers a 'bang' of suspense. What was one of the most memorable moments of Running Wild?
When the heroine was faced with feeding 12 hungry men in 2 hours with little experience. What about Maggie Wheeler’s performance did you like?
She performed the book well. I thought her accent was charming.Any additional comments?
An enjoyable suspense romance that would appeal to people who like to think about food. The ending was different from the formula one I thought they would come up with, so it was a nice surprise.A Romance for Foodies

Goes to show I should never take too much notice of what others say. This book was a very pleasant listen, with varying amounts of tension in it to keep me interested.
I liked the narrator, she enhanced this story, I liked the way she read and phrased the sentences, where she put emphasis. Awesome work and I would listen to another one by her in a heartbeat.
Why did I put off listening to this book?

Yes, it has a narrator that does a wonderful Texan (Southern Texan) accent and her flares are all in the right places, being a Texan I have appreciation for such things and also the story is GOOD! I'm a fan of the western mixed with dry humor and these Co-authors did a great job of telling the story. What was one of the most memorable moments of Running Wild?
While they were in the truck, dangling after a spin out and Carlin was worried about the eggs not the fact that they were in a truck in a tree, also the way she tries to keep Zeke at a distance and for him to only realize moments later that he got his butt handed to him is funny and the way she takes charge of the things she hasn't EVER done is just awesome! What about Maggie Wheeler’s performance did you like?
Like I said before, the narrator is southern and it's awesome to hear it naturally spoken instead of over embellished like some other series I've heard samples of. There's a difference between modern southern belle and hollywood southern belle. This one to me is modern.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I don't want to say extreme as much as I can agree it was definitely hard to put down and I loved the parts that made me laugh b/c I had to rewind a little each time for things I'd miss after laughing. (My husband jumped each time I laughed out of no where b/c I was having so much fun with this story line)Any additional comments?
Can't wait until the next book comes out!!! I WILL be looking forward to seeing the release date since this one came out last November (2012) I hope it's not going to be forever until the next one! It IS an easy read and should be taken as such, books aren't meant to be "taken seriously" otherwise you miss the enjoyment of getting lost in a book! ENJOY!Brilliantly Funny!!!
