Publisher's summary

The ultimate enemies-to-lovers, fake dating summer romance from MILLION-COPY BESTSELLER Portia MacIntosh.

Lara and Sonny are sworn enemies.

As rival showbiz journalists, they are always out to get one-up on each other – whether being the first to scoop the latest celebrity gossip, or sabotaging a potential lead.

So when their bosses ask them to join forces and go undercover at an exclusive celebrity retreat, they can’t think of anything worse - except that they are going to need to pretend to be in couples therapy to blend in...

Being on a tropical island for work would be most people’s idea of heaven, but for Lara and Sonny it’s hell. Can a week of sun, sea and uncovering showbiz secrets together chip away at Lara and Sonny’s rivalry? And once they get home and the fake relationship is over, could a real one be left in its place?

MILLION-COPY BESTSELLER Portia MacIntosh's laugh-out-loud romantic comedies are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

fun story.

Really fun different than the typical room com. It was a little suspenseful. Very very cute. Great narrator.

Fun story and excellent narration

The book caught my attention right away, and I ended up listening to it while putting away Christmas decorations. Finished it in one day. It was a fun romcom told by my favorite narrator. They are a terrific pair and I look forward to their next book.

My least favorite Portia Macintosh book

I have listened to many of Portia Macintosh’s books and have generally really enjoyed them all. However, unfortunately, this was my least favorite. Firstly, while I truly enjoy the narration of Karen Cass, I think the narrator should be switched up a bit. Because Karen Cass narrates every single Portia Macintosh book, they all have the same exact tone and it becomes hard to differentiate one from the next. Secondly (and this is a slight SPOILER if you haven’t listened yet), she gives “Thor” a pass on his bad behavior stealing their joint idea back in university because it was a long time ago and he “was a kid” then. However, she never mentions that he steals her idea again in the interview right in the beginning of the movie. The guy was just very unlikable to me, even though he does the right thing in the end. Too little too late, man. Also couldn’t really feel their chemistry.

Lacked character development

I liked the characters and the potential on the story but felt that the characters didn't seem to develop a long the storyline. just all of a sudden we're supposed to be ok with them being together but little too get us there plot wise. cute story but not my favorite Portia Macintosh.

Shallow Waters

Like a breezy movie you play in the background as you clean house. Flimsy characterizations of a too-perfect MMC and a borderline indefensible FMC (implying her innocent rival is a sexual predator to outshine him on an assignment? Girl… no!). Things pick up at the retreat, where for a minute the intrigue is better than the supposed romance, until all things conclude unsurprisingly. Good accent work by the reader.

Complaining is painful to listen to

I’m 3/4 into this story and the main character complains & is not at all funny. It’s hard to listen to. I wish I would have read a review before purchasing it. The level of non stop complaining about the other main character is relentless. Did not laugh even a fraction of the times I’ve laughed in other books by this author.
