Publisher's Summary

When they took my life, I thought I had nothing left to lose. I was a fool.

The Ouroboros Project was my last chance at salvation, but the new, virtual reality was just as bad as the world I’d left. Backroom deals with corrupt nobles, slavery, and murder were all swept under the rug in the pursuit of gold.

Despite everything, I found mercenary life fulfilling, until my guild was attacked. Now, I've got unknown, extremely rich enemies on all sides, a mysterious woman with strange magic and compound eyes, and a guild to save.

They brought their war to my home. It’s only fair I return the favor.

The Trinity of the Hive is a complete collection of the a dark fantasy series by Grayson Sinclair, featuring a dystopian real world and a gritty, bleak, and immersive VR world.

Disclaimer: Not for the faint of heart or those with weak constitutions (roll a saving throw). Doesn't contain a harem.

cornball 3 way love affair and ridiculous MC

cornball 3 way love affair and ridiculous MC. MC is arrogant even thought it's obvious he can't defeat certain characters.
The harem love affair is overall corny and melodramatic.

Uninteresting MC

Grayson Sinclair is a good writer and provided very good backstory to most of the major characters. However, the MC, Samson, is leader of a Guild and is so reckless one wonders whether he should be wearing Harlequin as a fool playing the part of a leader. The RPG world is one where if a player dies he is resurrected but starting at level one and loses everything. As a level 100 warrior he gives sage advice about not over-extending oneself in a battle else dying and starting over again and almost before ending his words-of-wisdom does exactly that and comes within a hair's width of dying. Then, at another point where he almost dies by turning around during the heat of the battle to check on a team mate and afterwards, again stating wisely that one should never do that. A bit later, during another battle ... wait for it ... he does exactly that again! and later AGAIN!

Samson is dislikable by design since he's the leader in what is meant to be a dark story but his personality is grating, random and eventually overly melodramatic.

Neil Hellegers is an excellent narrator and performs well with this series but his talents were somewhat under used on the series.

Still, I enjoyed the series overall and felt a sort of kinship when he came out with the Fallout New Vegas quote.

Thinly veiled smut novel.

I gave up on it after listening to chapter 20 of the first novel.

I can't fault the performance but the content is not what is described in the synopsis.

Not my thing

The main character gets shoved into the situation not much is told and then is given a class that I feel is influencing his cognitive thought and isn’t making the right rash decisions. And it really infuriates me that he’s being let around and not acting like he would normally. In my personal opinion not much was given about world building or anything else really to keep your attention on the book.

Not bad, just weird

It was okay. The reading was well done. I skipped over the kinky bits. Not my thing. The world was built fairly well. The ending was really weird and left a lot unresolved. This guy held all the keys, so to speak. So he made his choice then what? The ending really didn't work for me.

Fantasy rpg awesomeness

Had to say I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of detail and depth of the characters. Was getting all choked up at the end.

Good but don't listen around others

I enjoy it, I truly did but my few complaints were not mentioning the sex scenes in the description because I DEFINITELY would not have started listening to it at work, and that they basically just described the one on one straight scenes when there were a few girl on girl and three ways scenarios that were basically glossed over. You were told it happened but not in detail like with the one on one. Just my opinion but for me it's either all the sex scenes should have been included in detail or none of it and just glossed over, bit of a tease there.
