Tribulation is a twisted mystery about an end-of-days religious cult manipulating space and traveling across planes of existence on electricity and radio signals. Cult members willingly accept seven brutal years of torture, known as their “tribulation,” to atone for their earthly sins and come out on the other side saved (or thoroughly brainwashed?). The hero of this thriller, Stacy Carlson, must uncover the mystery of the Tribulation cult after her husband Greg is kidnapped by its leader, Brother Elijah (Josh Charles), through a bizarre AM radio broadcast. Greg’s disappearance leads Stacy into this world of zealots, skeptical law enforcement, and a former rock star turned conspiracy radio host, Reid Singer. Stacy and Reid team up to uncover the truth about the otherworldly religious mythology before them. Will Stacy find her husband and bring down the cult? All will be revealed by the end of Tribulation.

Tribulation comes alive with immersive sound design and stellar multi-cast performance.

Note: Tribulation contains adult language and auditory depictions of violence.

This was a great listen, I would listen in bed, then struggle to sleep because I was enticed. Amazing story. I would definitely recommend this, if your into maybe a sci-fi thriller.

This was a good story, just heavier on the gore than the science, which is fine if that is what you want.
The premise is decent, plot and action trot along with a bit of hand-waving here and there. The end was a bit abrupt, maybe a set up for a sequel? Can’t say.
Acting was good quality tho’ I could not tell if Stacey was *supposed* to such a whiny brat or if that was just the actor’s choice and the director allowed it. The rest of the cast was just fine. The actor playing Diane was spot on with her Christine Baransky impression.
I thought the sound effects were well selected and illustrated the action in a way that furthered the plot. The sounds also were mixed so they did not interfere with the dialog which was very helpful.
The author and producers lean in HARD on the whole pain thing. Many many minutes are spent describing it, telling why it is good, remembering it, praising it, and experiencing it. There is a lot of screaming, groaning, gasping, wailing, etc., accompanied by crunches, zaps, booms, and so on. I mean, I get it, that’s what the cult is all about and it’s people’s belief in its necessity that drives the story but at a certain point one reaches saturation and just wants the story to move on.
Any way, I am not mad I down loaded and listened to it. But I won’t feel the need to recommend it to folks I know or listen again.
TLDR: Not terrible, not my favorite. Competent work by the team, author might could use some editing.

More horror than SF

I just finished this audiobook moments ago. Story was very unique and the actors all did a very good job. Sound effects were excellent, The story was easy to follow with the characters. because you knew who was who. I prefer a full cast, especially if it's a book that has many characters in the book.

Lot of times you get lost if it's one narrator trying to do like 20 plus characters. Don't get me wrong there are some actors that can pull it off. But a full cast is my personal preference. With that said, this was done excellent all the way around.

PS. Make sure you listen all the way to the end. I won't spoil anything. But hopefully there will more to come.

Top Notch

Ok, this is a very different audiobook. It’s more like “watching” a movie then listening to a book. For the performance, I give it 5 stars. The story starts off great and sucks you in but...... Well, as it goes on I started to lose interest. It became a little too corny for my taste. I struggled to finish. 2 stars.

Starts off great but....

This book is a lot of sounds and static noises I bet if the intro to the podcast and some of the static was cut out the book would lose 30 minutes of length

Very noisy

I tried, I really tried. I listened to the entire presentation, which was a scripted play with sound effects. I would never describe this as a book. It was mildly interesting, but hard for me to follow. Too big a cast and distracting sound effects. Next time I will know better and stick to an audiobook.

Multicast presentations not my favorite
