Retired Navy SEAL Drago Dzieran takes listeners behind the scenes of his incredible life, from an impoverished childhood in Communist-controlled Poland to his time as a political prisoner, to his twenty years as a member of the United States military's most elite fighting force.
Everything I have, I owe to America—the greatest country in the world.
I have been fighting oppression and defending freedom my entire life. When I became a United States citizen, I felt it was my moral obligation to give back to this country and the people who had given me freedom. I wanted to serve my new country in the best capacity I could, so when the first Persian Gulf War broke out, I decided to join the military. During my Navy career, I performed over one hundred combat direct action missions in Iraq from 2003 to 2005.
My chance to live as a free man is only possible because of the ideals the founding fathers fought for and that have been carried forward to this day by Americans.
Every person has a voice, and every voice matters. I will continue to encourage others to get involved, stand up, and preserve and cherish the freedom and liberty we have in America.

An American hero immigrant
Here is someone who experienced the reality of Communism, immigrated to the US and became an American, and who then fulfilled his version of the American dream. I thought this autobiography was informative, insightful, entertaining, and very relevant today.

A book every American should listen to
It has been years since I gave much thought to Communism and what it imposed on Central and Eastern Europe. My interest started when I became romantically involved with a CzechAmerican who came to the USA in 1985 to escape it. Since then she has told me about what evils it instilled in that part of the world. Drago's story confirms that and instills in me the pride as well as the gratitude of being an American.

I loved that he appreciates honesty, freedom and is so hyper-aware of how precious freedom is, and how easily it can be taken.

Absolute Must Read
Absolutely a must read for any true blooded American. Excellent reminder of what makes this country great for those that do not have first hand knowledge of other countries and regions. Also a necessary reflection for consideration that we don't slide backward into socialist or communist state.

Patriot at his finest
What a fantastic, although traumatic, way to become an American citizen. I guess like going through SEAL training, they say when you truly earn it, you appreciate it all the more. I wish far more Americans had your heart, fight & determination. You deserve your retirement & your beautiful family. May God continue to shine on you. Thank you for your service, your love of America & for hope.

An American Patriot
Wow, Draco’s desire for freedom prior to coming to the USA. He didn’t really know what freedom was; but, that was what he wanted. Then when arrived in the USA he was so amazed and thankful for the, new to him, freedom that he had. Being so thankful for his freedom he wanted eliminate any threats to it. We owe him a dept of gratitude. As fellow US military veteran, Thank you!

True American Hero - Fantastic Book
Drago defines what it means to truly be American. This book is about one hell of a journey of becoming truly free and then serving in one of the most difficult and elite units in the US military. He paid for his freedom and then some! I'm proud to stand with Drago as an American. Thank you for your service!

What an amazing man!
Nothing not to like. Drago’s story is incredible and a must read (listen) for anyone! He is an example of what it means to be an American patriot. Thank you For all you did and do for our country Drago!
