Publisher's Summary

Last year at Cherringham High, and for three girls that means facing the School Summer Challenge, a grueling fifty-mile hike across the Cotswolds, through thick woods, over steep hills, camping each night under the stars. But when one of them disappears in the middle of the night and is found dead in the morning, most believe a terrible accident has taken place. Was it really an accident? Jack and Sarah aren't convinced - and soon discover that secrets and lies can have terrible consequences... and always leave a trail... Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack.

Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick read for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa.

Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid 90's, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and - most recently - the successful crime fiction series Cherringham. The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of "DCI John Barnaby" in "Midsomer Murders" and "Jim Riley" in "The Life of Riley". He is also known for his film roles in "The Nativity", "Sorted" and "Son of Rambow". In 2012 Dudgeon starred as "Norman Birkett" on BBC Radio 4's Afternoon Play series written by Caroline and David Stafford.

Consistently entertaining, even at #31....

I buy these installments of the ongoing Cherringham crime series as soon as they are released. The characters and English settings are engaging, and I love, love, love the narration by Neil Dudgeon. This one was every bit as fresh and well-written, at number 31, as any of them. I only wish they would appear more often. In this one, the audio editor failed Mr. Dudgeon in not catching the mispronunciation of Quantico and Adirondack, two American place names that were spoken by the American, Jack. It wasn't enough to make me unhappy, but it was enough to make me wince. All in all, I will just say "more, please".

Always fun to see Jack and Sarah..

Haven’t read a Cherryingham cozy in a couple of months and forgot how wonderful Jack and Sarah are, and how much I love these little mysteries are. This one was about the death of a girl and Jack and Sarah, once again, made the police department look stupid.

Even after listening to 31 of these stories I still enjoy them immensely.

No sex or swearing! Just good clean mysteries.

As to the narration: Neil Dudgeon is simply awesome in these novellas. I wouldn’t enjoy them half-as-much if it weren’t for him.

My review

As always, I just love how Neil narrates, but sadly, this story gave away the culprits way too soon.

Great story

Made me cry in the beginning. Very sensitively done. The characters were really well drawn, especially Josh. Also quite a dangerous and exciting finish which is somewhat unusual for Sarah and Jack. There have been other perilous situations but none quite so much as this one . Great listen!

Love these delectable cozies!

Cherringham is addictive: great little mysteries with excellent character sketches and satisfying plots that tied up
at the end. Wish they were longer and more frequent!

Love these mysteries

I love the Cherringham mysteries, my only criticism is that some of the American pronunciations and slang that are spoken by Jack are wrong. No NY cop would pronounce Quantico incorrectly, especially one who has been there. I did still give the performance 5 stars, because that doesn’t outweigh the rest of the performance.

Research Needed!

Research the correct pronunciation of 2 Native American words that are commonly used in the USA everyday.

Great!

Although this is not my favourite of the Cherringham stories, it was still lovely to meet up again with Jack and Sarah and be re-introduced into the warm but not too sugary world of Cherringham.
Just love Neil Dudgeon's narration and would happily listen to him reading the phone book!!

Always fun

Oh I do like this series. Terrifically narrated by Neil dudgeon with characters all easy to listen to.
When will Sarah and her American partner get together oh perhaps that might ruin their relationship anyway I like it.
