Story
When a yacht being used to smuggle drugs sinks, the six smugglers must seek refuge the only place they can - an abandoned oil rig in the middle of the sea. But there's something strange about this oil rig. For one thing, it looks more like a scientific research facility. And for another, there are no people - only piles of clothes with no bodies in them. It soon becomes clear that something is loose on the rig. Something deadly. It's stalking them, one by one, but it's not just a horrible death they have to fear - it's what comes after.

J. B. Priestley (1894-1984) was a versatile and prolific novelist and playwright, but in The Other Place (1953), he shows an unexpected talent, proving himself a master of the weird tale. In "The Grey Ones", Mr. Patson visits a psychiatrist after he becomes convinced that a race of demons masquerading as men are plotting the overthrow of the human race...but what if he's not insane? In "Guest of Honour", a banquet speech becomes a horrifying affair when the keynote speaker realizes his audience is made up of monstrous and menacing creatures.

Story
The Norfolk coast made for a perfect holiday - as long as the sun still shone. But when the rain came, the creatures left the shadows. Spectres from the past tortured James Hildebrand's mind. His blackest nightmares were crowded with malevolent, coiling images of decay. Then, suddenly, he knew the threat was real. The dead alone could not quench their hunger. And, for the living, the horrors that fed and multiplied in the darkness of the night became more terrible with the dawn.

From out of a shadowy backwoods hollow echoes a dark threat from the past, nearly a century lost and forgotten. The rural town of Harmony, Tennessee, possessed a disturbing secret; a secret so ancient that most of its residents were completely unaware of it. Even the last survivors of a vigilante raid long ago have filed the tragic events of that autumn night away, totally unaware of the evil that remains, dormant, but forever patient, among the tall pines and thick-leaved kudzu of a place known only as Hell Hollow.

One of the great pulp writers, Fredric Brown (1906-1972) combined a flair for the horrific, a quirky sense of humor, and a wild imagination, and published many classic novels in the mystery and science fiction genres. "What are the possibilities of my strength? That is a thought I have never had before. What if some morning as the old woman stood at the head of the staircase she were suddenly to feel a weight thrusting against the back of her legs? What if she were to lunge forward, grasping at the air, striking her thin skull against the edge of a stair? What would become of me if she were found unmoving at the bottom of the stairway?" Oh No, Not Teen Vampires!
Literally what could be worse than undead teenagers? 'Trail of Blood' takes a deep dive into the world of vampires, as an investigator duo attempts to rid the world of these dangerous blood suckers. A story involving action, familial love and good pitted against evil, set in small town USA... what is there not to love? This one was a gory good time. Matthew E. Berry delivers a good performance.

Great read or listen
I must admit when I first started this book I was a little put off by narrator it seemed a little cheesy. But after a little bit I got used to his style of reading and even liked it. It reminded me of a B rated horror flick which I might add is not a bad thing as I watch them all the time. Not everything including horror has to be so serious all the time. As for the plot itself it kept me intrigued wanting to hear how it all ended and I’m looking forward to seeing where it all goes in the next book if there is one I would be very interested in following where these guys are headed next in their fight to take back the towns even country from the undead. I received this title in exchange for unbiased review which I have given and had I not been given it for free I would still like to read it and will be recommending to friends as well.

First, I have to start off by stating that I got this book free of charge in exchange for a review, but as I always state, this does not in any way impact my review. My reviews are always honest and my own.
I found this to be extremely fresh and new in the line of supernatural. It is a must read and I highly recommend.

Reasonable.💙
A Trail of Blood improved as it slowly unfurled. The story was good but unremarkable. Told in first person the listener is given an understanding of characters personalities, some of which are pretty horrid, others rather dense.
I liked the narration sped up to 1.10X. The narrator was fairly good, clearly spoken, some words had interesting pronunciations.

Bloody good show!
A bit different than your usual vampire tale. I could almost call this a teen vampire tale but it was a bit better than that sounds. The vampires being recruited by the master were in fact teens but that’s not to say it was a YA genre book. We also have a couple clued in private investigators hired by one of the teens’ father to find his boy. The local takes place in a small town infected by the master’s presence and his desire to build a kingdom. So let’s get on with the show. A great book!
A paranormal story with a very noir sense to it, and with a PI who is quite familiar with things that go bump on the night, this is a very engaging, truly interesting story.
The characters are greatly done, their motivations easy to understand and sympathize with, and the storyline, fantastic. The numerous action scenes keep the story moving ahead.
I really enjoyed it :)
Matthew Berry did a very good job with the narration.

Basic action horror story done well
Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was a fairly easy listen and I finished fairly quickly.
This book is set in the present time so I would class it as a urban fantasty with horror aspects. It takes a fairly modern view on the supernatural aspects (most people don't believe in Vampires). I thought the dual naration with one following mostly the group of monster hunters and the other following the newly turned teenager vampires was gave nice counterpoints and different points of interests.
The narrator (Matthew Berry) was very good and was very easy to listen to.
