Shame About The Newsreader

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Generally, yes. Baldacci is a good story-teller.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jonathan Marosz’s performances?

No. He read it like a newsreader and made it very difficult to get into the pace of the narrative, as it just plodded on and on. Surely his producer/director should have corrected this.

Wonderfully complex

I really enjoyed this story and listened to it almost constantly! A wonderfully convoluted plot. Well written and well narrated.

Could have been much better

Started well but lost its way and got boring and unimaginative. 16 hours of my life I wont get back unfortunately. It promised so much more....

Beware - this is a new release but not a new title

Any additional comments?

I was excited by a new release but very quickly realised this wasn't a new book - talk of floppy disks got me digging and it's actually from 1997 so a lot of the technology is totally outdated (kind of amusing but also disappointing when you think you're listening to something fresh and it's 20 year's old!). The narration is the worst of any Baldacci novel i've listened to (intonation is repetitive) and the writing is average. It's entertaining & I'm continuing to listen to it but it wasn't what I was expecting.

Poor Naration

Great story let down by poor Naration which was way too fast for a good story and poor emphasis due to the speed of naration on critical or mood points

Riveting

He has the ability to totally immerse you in the characters. The ultimate complement is that you are disappointed when you finish the story

Monotonous Reading

A well written story spooked by a monotonous reading with a boring, unengaged voice. Disappointed.

Sad

The anti hero should have been allowed to live, but over all it's a satisfying end, with a few unexpected twists!

Set in a past that we remember but don't. Floppy disc?
Slow moving story. Other books are better
