Publisher's Summary

How exactly has one good deed landed me in the penalty box?

Ice Knights defenseman Zach Blackburn has come down with the flu, and my BFF - his PR manager - begs me to put my nursing degree to use and get him back to health. Of course she would call in a favor for the most hated man in Harbor City.

But when he’s finally on the mend and I’m sneaking out of his place, everything goes sideways. Paparazzi spot me and pictures, plus accusations that I slept with him, fly faster than a hockey puck.

At first, all of Harbor City wants my blood - or to give me a girlie-girl makeover. But then…the team finally wins a game. And now this fickle town wants me with the big jerk twenty-four seven.

Argh. I never slept with him the first time! But no one will listen. Then the grumpy bastard goes and promises to break his no-fan-appearances rule to help raise money for a free health clinic - but only if I’m rink-side at every game. That’s not a deal I can turn down.

But when the team keeps winning, and I realize there’s more to him than his bad reputation, suddenly remembering to keep my real hands off my fake date gets harder and harder to do.

Just what I needed...

I want to say that this is my favorite book in the series, but I enjoyed it so much that I want to go back and read Butterface and Muffin Top just to make sure (and also because they're pretty awesome books too). I'm so stoked to read Parental Guidance and get more Ice Knights delightfulness! I also hope we get more from the Hartigan clan because I sort of love them. I loved how fierce and unapologetically self Fallon is - she knows her strengths and weaknesses and embraces them. I also love how vulnerable Zach is - he's just a big old softy in a hard shell. I think that my favorite part of Tomboy though, is that we get enough drama for the plot to move at a good pace, but minimal angst (I had enough of that in the last 7 books I read - your girl was in need of a break). This was just a fun, sexy (perhaps even sexier than the first two books?), lighthearted gem of a story and a great intro to a new series that I'm SUPER excited for! 4.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Love hockey, the Hardigans’ and Books by Avery Flynn.

Sometimes it’s hard to trust, especially when life has given you every reason not to. Sometimes things and people are worth fighting for. Sometimes it takes a while to figure it all out. Hopefully it won’t take a hockey player and a tomboy too long to figure it out and let Love conquer all.

Judgement of others

That is what each of these books in the series addresses. One about a women considered ugly, one too fat and one too much a tomboy. So many people loved to comment on what each women was suppose to look like. Like they weren't real until they did. Tomboy being the last of the series was picked on for not dressing up and wearing MakeUp. Like that is all life is about is looking pretty for others. People should prioritize their own lives that way, but not someone else's. No one else lives your life. The Heroine was strong and independant. The best part is she didn't give a shit what others thought of her. She worked hard and prioritized family, friends and her love of helping others in her work or volunteering. Enter the Hero who knows nothing about people being with you without wanting something from you. No wonder he has a bad attitude. No one to trust. No one to be vulnerable with or to be himself with before Fallon. Each lead character is believable and likable. The performers brought these characters to life so I enjoyed this story and recommend it.

Best in the series!

From the first time you meet Fallon in the series you just know she is such a tough no nonsense girl. She is strong confident and doesn’t conform for anyone. She says exactly what she thinks and cares with her whole heart. I knew she would be my favorite and I was right. This was by far the best. I loved the others. But there is something about both the characters being brooding and alphas in their own right. I love that constant banter and picking on each other. It makes the chemistry feel like fire. And there is definitely epic levels of chemistry. The kind where you sit up straight. Plus as always my number one catnip a dirty talking man and this time around an adventurous talking woman. This by far my favorite of all Avery Flynn’s books. Plus the ending! Also as a third favorite character the journalist who narrates the extra hockey news. I loved that part so much. This book will definitely be read again.

So good

Each book in this series got better and better. Fallon and Zach had their issues like all re other couples but weren't as insecure in the strength of their relationship. Zach Blackburn is so sick that his PR rep\friend sends her best friend Fallon Hartigan to take care of him. And from there their story takes off.

The most hated man in Harbor City

What I have noticed about Avery Flynn and what keeps bringing me back is she has a lot of well developed and fleshed out character with real issues. The women are strong willed and a bit vulnerable (because hell women can be and are both.) And the men are not threatened by the women in the stories, not emotionally constipated and actually share what is bothering them to their friends at least. (But yes... I know that this is in fact written by a woman. However, it is good to depict how sharing and communication are key in any relationship or friendship.) This story is no different. The two main characters were fun to get to know, lots of cute banter. There is a lot of layers to peel back... lot of insecurities. Zach and Fallon are two sides of the same coin. I love how Flynn talked about internet trolls in this one and their impact on some people. No matter how tough those people seem to be. The narration was great. I enjoyed this performance so much I downloaded more of their work.

Another fabulous addition to this series

It's Fallon Hartigan's turn to find love despite the "in your face " personality she displays. So when she meets Zack Blackburn the tough and grouchy ice hockey player then sparks begin to fly. This is a well written storyline with lots of humour and great characters from previous books in the series. Heartily recommended and deserves the top rating given. The two narrators did an amazing job of bringing all the characters to life ~ WELL DONE
