Publisher's summary

A librarian. A spell book. And a terrorist organization set on enslaving the world.

Librarian Jayne Thorne enjoys her quiet life of tea and books. That is, until she finds a spell book in the Vanderbilt archives that accidentally gives her access to a magical dimension.

Now she's hunted by a magic-wielding terrorist group called the Kingdom, and the only way for her to survive is to team up with a secret branch of the CIA. Her first mission: Go undercover at Trinity College Library in Dublin to discover the identity of a Kingdom member and determine if the Book of Leinster is actually a magical necromantic grimoire.

With the help of a handsome Irish kickboxer, Jayne uncovers the truth of her unexpected spell book: The Irish manuscript is one of five grimoires that can raise five dead, master magicians, and secure their totems of power. With these totems comes the power to control the world.

But the spell book isn't the only thing with secrets in Jayne's new life. Danger lurks in every corner and Jayne must rise to meet her fated role...or perish alongside the rest of the world.

Contains mature themes.

Great pace and storyline

I loved this book for its historical aspect on magic. I also love British accents so that will always be a great narration. Lol

Thoroughly enjoyed

Joss Walker tells a well put together story, except how did a shy timid librarian morph into a major bad ass in such a short time? The book has its love interests and I would rate it PG-12. It’s definitely a female’s book. It’s a keeper!

Cool to be a Book Nerd!

This has to be my new favorite character! Jayne, the smart-alecky are CIA librarian, who just happens to be magic, makes it cool to be a nerd, especially a book nerd! This book has it all – – Adventure, romance, comedy, literary and historical references, fantasy, and my all-time favorite – a hunky guy that turns into a wolf! The narrator does an absolutely fabulous job with different voices as well as a variety of accents. I felt like I was watching a movie instead of listening to an audiobook. I can’t wait for Book 2 !

Excellent narration, and a fun adventure!

This was gripping from the start! Erin Moon does a fabulous job with the voices, making each one unique and distinct. They felt like real characters! And she really nailed Jayne's quirky, sassy, and sometimes awkward humor. I felt like I could laugh along with Jayne during some of her dialogue and inner monologue. The action was non-stop, the romance was sizzling (and that Irish accent! Swoon!), and the entire journey was just a fun ride! Highly recommend.

Great story idea but slow and tedious

The book started out with potential but it could have benefited from a LOT of additional editing. Way too much detail and reiteration of facts and back story. Too little character and story development. Way too much of what I would call teenage angst even though the main character is not a teenager. Unfortunately I just couldn't see the point in finishing the book, which is rare for me, but I felt no Interest in finding out where the story was going at such a slow pace.
The narrator did an excellent job, accents and all..

Great--but a few grains of irritation in the mix

So I actually really enjoyed this book, but...I can't help but be irritated by a few little details here and there. For example: the Republic of Ireland is not part of the United Kingdom and hasn't been for 100 years. The author seems aware of this, or at least aware enough to have Dublin transactions occurring in Euros, not Pounds. But the awareness is shaky enough to occasionally bother anyone familiar with both countries. On the other hand, she correctly refers to CIA operatives as officers, not agents, so...

Ready for book 2, like, yesterday!

What a wild ride that I enjoyed every minute of! Tomb of the Queen is filled with pop culture references, snarky banter, a compelling magic system, not to mention sexy men with accents, magical books and realms, library nerdiness, and a female main character I adored! I cannot wait to read book 2!

Amazing start to a new series 5/5

This is the first book I've read / listened to from Joss Walker. Top notch writing + Erin Moon's narration = The NEW Paranormal series to beat!

I am impressed with the characterization---the settings--- and most of all the story. It is new and fun to listen for me. You will not regret purchasing this book.

I will purchase the next as soon as it's out.
