Publisher's summary

A solemn funeral. A bitter schism. A brutal murder.

When the much-loved lord of the manor, Henry Burton, passes away, the villagers of Hambledon-on-Thames gather to pay their respects at his funeral. But the day is marred when the churchwarden is found brutally battered to death in the north transept of the church.

Called to investigate, Detective Inspector Bridget Hart soon unearths a tangled web of old grudges and simmering feuds beneath the tranquil idyll of this sleepy South Oxfordshire village.

Bridget and her team must look beyond the thatched cottages and rose-covered houses to uncover the truth and prevent another death.

Outstanding

This series hooks you from the first page of book 1. I really wish there were more than 7, but alas all good things must come to an end.

This was as warm and fuzzy as the purring
cat I don't have. (This book had me wanting one)
Kinda slow but colorful. A huge cast of characters as promised when the publishers
blurb explained this was a small village.
The murder was quickly committed then
passed over but there was a lot of talking about
it. The murderer surprised me but... why not?
No one in the village liked her and we read all
about it. Lots of fun.
