From the moment MacKayla Lane arrived in Dublin to hunt her sister’s murderer, she’s had to fight one dangerous battle after the next: to survive, to secure power, to keep her city safe, to protect the people she loves. Now, as High Queen of the Fae, Mac faces her greatest challenge yet: ruling the very race she was born to hunt and kill - a race that wants her dead yesterday, so they can put a pure-blooded Fae queen on the throne. Publisher's Summary
He was born to a clan of warriors of supernatural strength, but Gavrael McIllioch abandoned his name and his Highland castle, determined to escape the dark fate of his ancestors. Hiding his identity from the relentless rival clan that hunted him, he called himself Grimm to protect the people he cared for, vowing never to acknowledge his love for ravishing Jillian St. Clair.
Yet even from afar he watched over her, and when her father sent an urgent summons, "Come for Jillian," he raced to her side - into a competition to win her hand in marriage.
A warrior's steely heart....
Why had he run from her so many years before? And why return now to see her offered as a prize in her father's manipulative game? Furious, Jillian vowed never to wed. But Grimm was the man she loved, the one who urged her to marry another. He tried to pretend indifference as she tempted him, but he could not deny the fierce desires that compelled him to abduct her from the altar. She was the only woman who could tame the beast that raged within him - even as deadly enemies plotted to destroy them both.

Not understanding the problem here....
I normally don't write reviews but I depend on them so much when selecting books I wanted to help you guys out here. Many reviewers have claimed they could not get past the narrator's female voice. While most men cannot perfect the sound of a female's voice I feel that Phil Gigante did a more than acceptable job at it. The story itself was wonderful as well. I highly recommend this one!!

Amazingly Wonderful
I have to admit that I had a bias because the narrator is male. My bias was completely unfounded. This book was amazing; great plot, good narrator. However unpractical, you will not be disappointed purchasing this book.

still love this series
Came across this series by accident when on sale, and really enjoy it. Not really into the whole paranormal thing usually, but do enjoy the supernatural, time travel, etc parts of these stories. Don't understand complaints about this narrator, he does a fabulous job. Unless you have a male and female narrator performing together, you are going to have a man doing female voices, or female doing male. Have listened to others by this narrator and think he is great. I will definitely keep getting the books in this series.

I loved this book
Phil Gigante reads it with all the ferocity that is befitting the Highland Warrior in this book. At first I was not sure I could enjoy a book like this with a man reading but his voices for these characters brings them to life. Phil I hope that you will continue to do these audio books for you have a talent that is only matched by Karen Marie Moning's talent for writing something as spell binding as this. Just a little history for my best friends reaction to this book she listened to the first half and went home and attacked her husband and he now wants her to listen to all of them. Karen you either have a great imagination or a superb lover I would like to have one of them my self the lover that is. Keep up the good work. Thanks Audible for allowing us to listen to these great stories at such a great price.

Not so tame a wonderful tale!
l adore this series by Karen Marie Morning. It was my introduction to Scottish Historical Romance and as much of an addict that I am I have yet to find any series to compare. I think this is my 3rd or 4th time listening to it and it is still as exciting and satisfying as it was the first time.
Karen Marie Moning has again seamlessly woven paranormal romance and historical romance into a story with a intricate weave and a strong colorful weft. There is not a thread out of place in this tale of love, legend, humor, mystery, magic and mayhem. Every character is so well developed that it's as if you know them personally (Which could be scary at times) and well. They are colorful, interesting, and damn entertaining! The plot is a masterpiece and each storyline another thread that weaves this incredible tale. The legend of the Berserkers and the medieval setting lend the polish to this shining example of Historical HEA Romance books.
NARRATOR: Phil Gigante gives a near perfect performance. Occasionally he drops a voice for a few words that is corrected in a flash but still causes just a split second of confusion. His female voices can seem less than feminine but not consistently. Overall he is a truly great performer irregardless of those minor imperfections. His Warm sexy voice and delicous Scottish burr make listening to him a real treat.
CREDITWORTHY? Yes, yes, yes....
HEAT FACTOR: A whole lot of Chemistry, a whole lot of talk, and some real steam too!

Narration had my Toes Curling.
This book has such a strong plot, rich in the history this series creates. The voice of the narrator takes that story and heats it up to a whole other level. During some of the steamier scenes, my toes absolutely curled in delight. Phil Gigante is the best.
