Story
A mysterious terrorist organisation has carried out several attacks against the Federation and Klingon Empire. Tensions are running high in a region already crippled by conflict. The perpetrators are tracked to the Lembatta Cluster, a mysterious region of space whose inhabitants, the Renao, regard the Alpha Quadrant s powers as little more than conquering tyrants. The Federation are desperate to prevent more bloodshed, and have sent their most powerful warship, the USS Prometheus, into the Cluster to investigate the threat before all-consuming war breaks out.

Publisher's Summary
From New York Times best-selling author David Mack comes an original, thrilling novel set in the universe of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Death slumbers in the ashes of silent planets, waiting to be awakened and unleashed....
Twenty years have passed since the interstellar scourge known as the Husnock were exterminated without warning by a being with godlike abilities. Left behind, intact but abandoned, their desolate worlds and derelict ships brim with destructive potential.
Now a discovery by a Federation cultural research team has drawn the attention of several ruthless factions. From black market smugglers to alien military forces, it seems every belligerent power in the quadrant hopes to capture the Husnock's lethal technology.
All that stands between the galaxy and those who have come to plunder the cruelest secrets of the Husnock are Admiral William Riker, Captain Christine Vale, and the crew of the Starship Titan.

Great sequel to TNG episode
This is a great sequel to a classic TNG episode. I have waited for this story for many years and so glad David Mack decided to write it.
If you are a fan of TNG and Titan, this story is for you.
The Narrator, Robert Petkoff has been doing an amazing job and hope he continues for a while!

Star Trek Titan review
I was very excited to see the premise of this episode. Unfortunately the storytelling dropped the ball.
Spoilers
I am a fan but not a fanboy of Star Trek, and find the novels to be hit or miss based on the author. This could have been a wonderful romp, with high trek Indiana Jones meets Firefly. The Breen were a great foil, and the Ferengi and Orion Syndicate were excellent choices for adversaries. A whole empire suffers the Roanoke colony. Wow
Instead we get a video game plotline.
Even more the writer suffers from George RR Martin syndrome. A multitude of named characters to try and remember. Everyone gets a line, but almost none of them have a point. Not only is this distracting, especially in an audio format, it takes away the draw of the main characters.
Then there is Ryker. Plot device. Apparently he spends most of the space battles in his room with Diana, or on the bridge in a jump seat with a ball gag. I get he isnt in command, but an admiral with the level of combat experience he has isnt going to be absent on his own flag ship.
My final gripe (at least the last i am writing) is the incompetence of several key officers. Multiple executive officers in this story make major fundamental management errors, bully and threaten their subordinates, undermine the captain, and fail to do their jobs. You arent supposed to like these characters, and that is fine, but I just wanted to fire them.
Ok I lied one more: no wonder none of the people on the ship offer ideas. In the brainstorming session the first two ideas are slammed down so harshly, that scene is a great example i will use to show how NOT to respond in a creative innovation setting.
These issues arent real of course, but are examples of how this author should have taken a leadership course once in his life, or researched how the military or even office environments actually work.

Great Trek that fallows the TNG timeline
Great story plunked right from a TNG episode and expanded into a post Deminion War story. Has great action and well weaved stories that collide and separate well throughout the novel. Feels really Trek and didn't disappoint me.

Only an A story line
I enjoyed this book, it had a good story, good characters and interesting twists but the fact that it only had an A story line and no B story line was a bit of a disappointment. Most Star Trek books take place in two sectors of space or in two different time periods. As I said it was a good story but not as good as others Star Trek books I have listened to.
