Acerca de esta escucha

An original novel based on the acclaimed Star Trek TV series!

The USS Enterprise has been granted the simple but unavoidable honor of ferrying key guests to Betazed for a cultural ceremony. En route, sudden tragedy strikes a Federation science station on the isolated planet Kota, and Captain Jean-Luc Picard has no qualms sending William Riker, Data, and Chief Medical Officer Beverly Crusher to investigate. But what begins as routine assignments for the two parties soon descends into chaos: Picard, Worf, and Deanna Troi must grapple with a dangerous diplomatic crisis as historic artifacts are stolen in the middle of a high-profile ceremony...while nothing is as it seems on Kota. A mounting medical emergency coupled with the science station’s failing technology - and no hope of rescue - has Doctor Crusher racing against time to solve a disturbing mystery threatening the lives of all her colleagues....

Not the best Trek story, but far from the worst. Dragged its feet in a good few places, but had some interesting concepts. Needed more time on the editing room floor before publishing though.

It’s alright

I think this novel would have been better suited to be one cohesive storyline instead of two stories that had nothing to do with each other. Crusher’s story was fast paced but felt unoriginal and I pretty much figured out the plot before I got halfway through the novel. Troi’s story was slow paced and had a lot of buildup but the big reveal was very disappointing. It felt like there was supposed to be more but the author abruptly cut it off and ended the novel prematurely.

An ok novel, but fell flat at the end

Overall, this audiobook wasn't bad story wise. There were some big issues with the ranks of the characters. By the end of Season 7, Troi was a Commander and a line officer. La Forge was a Lieutenant Commander and a line officer. Yet Worf was center chair....

Okay story, but clearly lacks TNG knowledge base.

While his character voices here are not quite as polished as in the TOS books (although his Worf is spot on), the narrator continues to be one of the best things about these audible novels.

SPOILERS: The story itself got a little wonky and drawn out as Crusher was going through dreamland, but was entertsinjng overall. It reminded me of the TNG episode "Home Soil" with its crystalline creatures that are discovered to be intelligent.

The biggest plot point left dangling, IMO, was what happened to the settlers who were going to be moved to this planet? Surely they can't go there now, but their fate was never discussed.

Entertaining for TNG Fans

This was a very well written classic Next Gen story! Just solid Star Trek, plain and simple. Welcome to season 8!

Classic TNG Star Trek!

I honestly haven’t been able to get into most Star Trek novels but this one was great! Exactly like an episode of the show & with Deanna Troi & Beverly Crusher w Worf taking the lead - and those are three of my favorite characters, too! 5/5 stars, can’t wait for more gems like this with someone who truly understands the characters and universe!

Excellent choice for TNG fans

Great listen…

I always enjoy Star Trek books. Robert Petkoff is the best narrator in audio books today!

Great listen

I really enjoyed this book, because it gave Worf, Dr. Crusher and Troy much larger roles, and allowed their characters to take charge.

Not just the captain and first officer

It was cool seeing Worf and Diana starting their connection and having a fun mystery not involving intergalactic, stability or the precipice of annihilation.

Fun adventure set in last season of TNG

At first I didnt think this book would be a good, but I'm sure glad I listened to it. The narrator did an awesome job with the voices of the various characters. Some parts were comical, especially interactions between Picard and Deanna's mom. The story line was was great . I really like how they figured it out regarding the life forms. It was a very good listen.
