A brand new Western adventure from the author of "Clint Clay - The Texan Avenger!"
Jake Timber is a tortured man, repaying his debt to society for avenging the brutal murders of his wife and daughter. In his work as a special agent, tasked with ridding the territory of criminals, he takes no prisoners, and gives no mercy. His job is to hunt down wanted men, asking no questions before delivering his own brand of justice through the barrel of a gun. While traveling through the territory, Timber finds himself in the middle of a turf war in the town of Heaven Brook, where he helps bring an end to the tyranny of two powerful men.

I'd read a dozen or more of the later TIMBER books (there's A LOT of them) and for some reason I hadn't started with the first in the series. When offered the chance to review the audiobook, I couldn't pass it up. Jake Timber is, by turns, an irascible lout and a Western character that will make you yearn to have been alive at the same time he would have been. Full of grit, determination, and a rock steady sense of justice and fairness, Timber's exploits are the stuff of legend--even if they didn't really happen.
Justin Briscoe, aside from having a moniker so well-suited for narration of a Western story, did a wonderful job of bringing these characters and this story to life. I listened to the whole thing in one go, and was never once bored or disinterested in continuing (as so often happens, sadly). I hope he continues the series.
Hanlon rarely disappoints +Justin Briscoe nails it
