Publisher's summary

When Oxfordshire tearoom owner Gemma Rose enters her little tabby, Muesli, in the cat show at the local village fair, the last thing she expects is to stumble across a murder. And when her meddling mother and the nosy Old Biddies decide to start their own investigation, Gemma has no choice but to join in the sleuthing. She soon finds there's something much more sinister sandwiched between the homemade Victoria sponge cakes and luscious jam tarts!

But murder isn't the only thing on Gemma's mind: there's the desperate house-hunting that's going nowhere, the freaky kitchen explosions at her quaint English tearoom, and an offer from her handsome detective boyfriend that she can't refuse! With things about to reach boiling point, can Gemma solve the mystery before the killer strikes again?

Enjoy the series but...

I'm really getting tired of the author dragging out the romance between Gemma and Devlin. Let them get on with it already. Both characters are too old for the high school drama between them in every book. It's getting old.

Skip this series

Had such high hopes for this series, first book was good but now the character is so needy, emotionally unstable and clingy towards her boyfriend, the narrator imitating the cat meow is beyond annoying. I wasted my money on all 9 books, the witch series by Hanna is a bit better.

Listening to these books is like nails on a chalkboard. Am beyond disappointed because I love English cozy mysteries.

Good mystery

I enjoyed this book especially the narration. My only pet peeve is the meow sounds of the cats

Love , love, love this series!

What did you love best about Till Death Do Us Tart?

I love how the relationships between the characters keeps developing with each instalment. It was nice to see my old favourites including, of course, Gemma's Mom and the Old Biddies back again. Oh, and of COURSE...Muesli too! There were a lot of great suspects and I kept wondering, how did the murder happen.

What other book might you compare Till Death Do Us Tart to and why?

I am a new fan of Sherlock Holmes and have been listening to the complete works on Audible, I love how both series are UK based.

Have you listened to any of Pearl Hewitt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I think Pearl does an amazing job of stepping right back into the characters where she left them in the previous books. How she keeps all the voices straight from each other I can only imagine. I've also listened to her on a few P O Dixon stories and those were great too, a ride in time back to Mr. Darcy's age. Her voice is great both as more formal or more informal, depends on the book and characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The antics of Gemma's mom's match making ways and descriptions of a 'crazy cat ladies' home really made me smile :)

Any additional comments?

If you haven't checked out this series yet, please do. I've read a lot of books on my Kindle and Audible and without a great author and great voice performance, a lot is lost. Both these ladies are top notch in my book so I hope you will enjoy this as much as I did! Enjoy!

Disclosure: A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

A perfect road trip listen!

I loved this 4th entry in the Oxford tearoom series. They just keep getting better and better!
Pearl Hewitt does a fabulous job with the different voices, and her accent and voice are lovely to listen to. As always, the ensemble of multi-faceted characters in the story kept me guessing till the end.
H. Y. Hanna has created a charming little world in the Cotswolds that I wish I could visit, and filled it with interesting people that I wish I could meet. And an adorable cat named Muesli will capture your heart!
if you enjoy clean, cozy and fun mysteries, give this one a listen. I highly recommend this series!
My only complaint is that the recipe at the end of the story is not included in the audio version. it would be great if Pearl Hewitt could read that as well.

Cosy little murder

I enjoy the Oxford tea room murder mysteries as there is always a lot of suspects in each book. However I feel the performance let this book down which is a shame, as I think Pearl Hewitt has down an excellent job in previous book, the voice for one of the main suspect was just annoying and grated but other that it was a nice little mystery with lots of clues ot help you work out who the murder was.

I enjoyed Mussel (Gemma's cat) playing a bigger part and it is quite often her antics that make you laugh. Although my dog wasn't to happy with all the cat meowing in this book.

Entertaining

Any additional comments?

Another fun read in the Oxford Tearoom Mysteries.
The identity of the killer was a real mystery and kept me guessing until the end.
All my favourite characters make an appearance and Gemma and Devlin's relationship motors along at a nice sedate pace. I love how the writer brings Muesli, the cat, into the main story line as well. A cat show was a completely different setting for a murder.
I liked that Devlin was working on another case at the same time. He had a high profile agri crime case to solve and I felt that it could have had more of an impact on the story than merely facilitating an official reason for his presence at a village fete. There wasn't much of a resolution to the crimes he was investigating and I thought it would have been more interesting if the Gemma's murder investigation had been connected more. I would have liked Gemma to have faced some danger along the way or to have crossed paths with Devlin's criminal gang to add a little bit of excitement.

A nice, charming mystery with humour. I would recommend this series.

Weakest to date, disappointing and unrealistic.

Others have said how annoying Gemma can be and this time she really began to grate with me.
There are many repetitions about known characters which is a little wearing.
I have been vexed with the fact that Devlin discusses the murders with Gemma, which is wholly against protocol. Paying for a doctor, getting a forensic pathologist to carry out a post mortem on Gemmas request is ludicrous. Been given the results of said postmortem 'first' is ridiculous and to state forsenic pathologist says 'I'm probably breaking a million police rules sharing this information with a member of the public...' she gave a tinkling laugh, showing how little she cared about following rules.... Really, just absolutely preposterous.

Really very disappointing, and I will not be carrying on with the series.

Cute

It's a cute little story, as all these books are. It was not my favourite, but maybe because I have listened to too many in a row. I felt there was too much descriptive narrative each time someone was a suspect. That moment where someone unravels the case and explains how the murder etc was done. But this was several times over and it felt a bit forced.

And not enough of the old biddies this time. They are my favourite. They are great.

But still enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one.

Another enjoyable audiobook featuring Muesli

If you could sum up Till Death Do Us Tart in three words, what would they be?

Light-hearted, intriguing, enjoyable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gemma's mother, she is so funny (although she doesn't realise it).

Which character – as performed by Pearl Hewitt – was your favourite?

Gemma.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have liked to listen to the book in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

I have enjoyed listening to this series of audio books. The characters are brought alive by the narrator, Pearl Hewitt, and although there are several obvious suspects, the actual murderer usually is surprising.

Feel good series

Love these! The ‘Old Biddies’ make me chuckle with their antics and Muesli reminds me of my own four legged furry fiend. Easy listening with enough twists to make you think about ‘who dunnit’

Enjoyed this book

An enjoyable romp but get quite annoyed at certain inaccuracies. In the UK nobody would ever offer to pay for a doctor because it's free anyway and I don't think doctors discuss their patients illness or medications.

Will probably get the next book though. Like others have said, Jemma can be a little annoying!

Tiresome

Was really looking forward to listening to this fourth book but found myself becoming more irritated by the main characters petty jealousy's and moodiness towards her romantic interest. Took away from the main story line.
Hopefully there will be an improvement in the further books in the series or I may be returning them.
