Nora Kelly, a young archaeologist in Santa Fe, receives a letter written 16 years ago, yet mysteriously mailed only recently. In it, her father, long believed dead, hints at a fantastic discovery that will make him famous and rich - the lost city of an ancient civilization that suddenly vanished a thousand years ago.
Now Nora is leading an expedition into a harsh, remote corner of Utah's canyon country. Searching for her father and his glory, Nora begins to unravel the greatest riddle of American archeology. but what she unearths will be the newest of horrors.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This story seemed to take a LONG time to get going. I nearly stopped listening a couple times because it just seemed to be going nowhere..slowly. Finally I had enough time invested that it seemed a shame not to finish the thing off and get to the end. Also, finally the story picked up enough that I had some interest.I did hang in there and was glad to see the heroine achieve her goal. It was also interesting to see how some basic human traits were portrayed and played out.
What was most disappointing about Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child ’s story?
The story felt like it took a long time to develop. I did not really ever engage with the characters and felt they were rather 1-dimensional in their development. I would have loved to have heard more of the history and archaeology involved. While that would have made for a longer book, I think it would have added to it overall.Did Scott Brick do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Initially the falsetto voices of the females was annoying..and well, honestly...it stayed that way.Could you see Thunderhead being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
If it was I doubt i would watch it.Not my favorite

I almost didn't bother to finish. Other readers will likely enjoy the story line. The reader was very good. I sped up to about 1.2. I don't like very slow reading.
Darker than what i normally read
