A small mountain town hides a dark secret.... When his father's death brings Grant Shipman to the Appalachian town of Wallen's Gap, he believes his biggest problem will be dealing with the slow pace and odd townsfolk. Story
All theater romances are tragedies. Ella Blythe knows this. Still, she cannot help but hope her own story may turn out different than most - and certainly different than the tragic story of the Ghost of Craven Street Theater. Yet as she struggles to maintain her tenuous place in the ever-shrinking ballet company, win the attentions of principal dancer Philippe, and avoid company flirt Jack, Ella cannot deny the uncanny feeling that her life is mirroring that of the dead ballerina.

Story
There's an anomaly corrupting the streets of the night club district. A paranormal vortex sits among the vibrating walls and neon lights, dormant. It is only awoken by the angst of an edgy teenager, triggering the beginning of the end. It was a simple ghost tour, that was until it all went wrong. The effects of that night would haunt Thaddeus as he spent the next five years in the mental health unit, seeing things and hearing a voice that the medication couldn't silence. Thaddeus could never forget the striking tour guide, Algernon, and his stupid smile.

My name is Haldin Raish. Legionnaire. And the High General just murdered my parents. My dad was well respected in the Legion. Always had a reputation for doing the right thing, no matter the cost. He was a good man. And whatever he stumbled onto got them both killed. Messily. Now, that red-eyed thing is coming for me. It walks like the High General. Talks like him, too. But it's not. Human beings don't shirk off gunfire and smack grown men across the room like that. Not even High Generals. And he's not the only one.

On the first day, no one really noticed. All those babies wrapped in blue blankets - not a pink one in sight. On the third day, people were scared - a statistic-defying abundance of blue. Not just entire hospitals, not only entire countries, but the entire world. Boys. Only boys. Until Eve. The only girl born in 50 years. The savior of mankind. Kept protected, towering above a ruined world under a glass dome of safety until she is ready to renew the human race. But when the time comes to find a suitor...Eve doesn't only want safety and protection. She wants freedom.

I was hooked from book one I had to see if book two was just as intriguing. I must agree that is was just as intriguing. I loved the quirkiness and steam of the characters and storyline. The book is a little long but the narrator definitely knows how to pull you in and take you on a rollercoaster ride of fun and mystery. Long Winded
This is book two and I'll warn you now, it is quite long winded. The author has mastered the art of purple prose and he uses it from beginning to end. Amazingly, this is not the end of the story! Will I listen to the next book? Most likely, just to see how it ends but I am truly hoping the author cuts way back on superfluous wording. If this had happened for this book then it probably would have been only five to seven hours instead of eleven. The writing is well done, Byron Fortin has an impressive vocabulary but sometimes one word is better than six for the same thing. The narration is done excellently and it is the narration which had me tolerating the excessive descriptions. John Joseph Rogers keeps the voices the same from book one and really makes this listening experience bearable. Overall, you have to listen to book one before listening to this one and if you liked or could tolerate book one then possibly give this one a chance.
