Publisher's summary

Ashley Rhodes-Courter spent a harrowing nine years of her life in 14 different foster homes. Her memoir, Three Little Words, captivated audiences everywhere and went on to become a New York Times best seller. Now Ashley reveals the nuances of life after foster care: college and its assorted hijinks, including meeting "the one". Marriage, which began with a beautiful wedding on a boat that was almost hijacked (literally) by some biological family members. Having kids - from fostering children and the heartbreak of watching them return to destructive environments, to the miraculous joy of blending biological and adopted offspring.

Whether she's overcoming self-image issues, responding to calls asking for her to run for Senate, or dealing with continuing drama from her biological family, Ashley Rhodes-Courter never fails to impress or inspire with her authentic voice and uplifting message of hope.

Too many precious kids don't have families

I listened to this book after reading her first one. I am moved to action. Ashley reveals the truth. Our foster system is not keeping precious children safe, it's not being the force to help them find a loving family. A system can't save lives. And lives are at risk right now. I am so glad I read this book.

Absolutely amazing

This book gives a clear multiple sided view into one of the many horrific and broken systems will live with. It truly feels like our systems punish the people that care and abide by them and allow the none caring offenders to coast along without a care in the word. Very insightful and emotional journey. A must read for sure!

This book will pull you in from the first chapter.

I thought that the first memoir that Ashley wrote was incredible but if possible this one was better! I hope she continues to work about neglected children who need homes because we cannot let these children become forgotten. Thank you Ashley for the amazing and important work that you do.

Life changing inspiration

Ashley, I very much enjoyed your memoirs. All the things that you have spoken about in your books are things that we had heard and have caused us to stand on the sidelines for years not wanting to get involved in "the system". We just completed the beginning Inquiry for becoming Foster/Adoption parents. Thank you for your insight and perspective that has fueled our desire to do something meaningful in children's lives.

Realization- I was One of the Lucky Ones

Ashley’s story is so many emotions. Sad, Angry, thankful, heartwarming, and yes confusing. Fairytale endings do happen. But it’s not as easy as it seems. If all foster, adopted, and biological families could be like the Couters, Ashley and her husband The world would be better off! The confusing part, after all these years why do we still have such a huge problem with DFCS hiding truths? All agencies and those in contact should come together on each and every child’s behalf! What I wouldn’t give to THANK my LOVING foster mother!
