Busy but enjoyable

Overall, I enjoyed the book, but it seemed a little busy to me. There were some aspects to it I liked more than others. I enjoyed the honesty in the struggle of the father/daughter relationship after the mother's death... sadly this happens too often, I've seen it in my own family. I liked the heart of the father as he longed for his sons to be back home together for Christmas, once you are a parent with children living hours away from you and each other, you will understand the significance of this. I also liked "Abner" or the idea of him... just not so much that he told them he was Jesus. As a believer, I know Jesus is with me always, however, I don't believe him to show up in human form and do what Abner did... especially telling people that is who he was. I felt like the book got too wordy in some areas... and it became a little hard to follow in those areas. I was glad in the end to see that the characters decided to live for the Lord.

As a whole, the narrative was done well, but I feel like the wordiness/busyness of the story made the narrative a little difficult at times.
