Publisher's summary

She’s desperate for a new life in the Canadian mountains.... He’s the last person she should trust to get her there.

After her husband’s death, Rachel Gray is finally free from the turmoil his addictions caused. She wants nothing more than a new life with her 12-year-old son. If she can reach her brother in the wilderness of the Canadian territories, they’ll have help to start over in peace. She knows better than to put her life in the hands of another man, but she never expected the Montana mountains to be so treacherous. When two brothers invite her to join their small group traveling to the same area, she refuses. After she and her son narrowly escape a bear attack, she’s forced to admit they need the safety of numbers in this untamed land. If the men prove dangerous, she can always leave with her son and strike out alone again.

Seth Grant has made some bad choices in his life, but God healed him from the addiction that mired him in his sins. Now, he’s determined to live the life God called him to, starting with a journey northward to see the Canadian mountain both his brother and sister have fallen in love with. When he discovers the woman and boy who plan to travel the same mountain trail, he can’t fathom why she refuses to join in the safety of their larger group. Though her decision seems unwise, he has no other choice but to pray God provides her protection.

Despite Rachel’s best efforts, she can’t seem to fight her attraction to the Seth - until a secret from his past proves he’s not at all the man she thought. When a new peril threatens her son’s life, she must choose between trusting in what she can control, or the man who her heart says is trustworthy, no matter his previous sins. The path she chooses just may determine whether she can step into the new life God has in store for them all.

Great Christian adventure/romance

*The narrator was able to differentiate between the characters effortlessly.
*The storyline was great.
*This was a Christian adventure/romance that is not preachy. Religion was just a natural part of their life. No lectures here.

Learning to Trust

This is, I believe, the second I have read of these intertwined but standalone stories of pioneering and the incredible everyday hardships faced by travelers and settlers. No convenient (albeit filthy) gas station toilets nor available snack shops, nor airconditioned conveyances. Just the routine drudgery of planting and cleaning or perhaps walking long hours behind the wagons in the dust or riding vast distances through dangerous terrain. Our heroine has come west with her son to find her brother in the Canadian mountains, running from the tragedy her life has become and hoping to find peace. Seth has left his own demons behind in California, seeking, with his twin brother, their siblings. Strongly faith based, they find positive reinforcement when they give themselves into God's hands, relying on Him to guide their own. I had the pleasure of enjoying Leonor Woodward's strong narration.

Good

Each of these stories involves traveling to the Canadian Rockies. They are all different and compelling. This one is about the twins and one of them finds love while the other one helps get them safely to the destination. The series is about a family of 9 siblings. They work well together and can be read alone. The narrator brought the story to life.

An Amazing Journey

A heartfelt story narrated by Leonor Woodworth that was perfect to lead the reader through the journey. Her voice depicted Rachel's thoughts clearly and brought out the emotions the author portrayed in her writing. After the death of her husband, she set ou on a long journey with her young son to Canada, so she could find her brother . She is only looking for peace in a new place to start over. Her meeting with Seth who would help lead the way, was hard because she just had to trust in him and God to help her on the way.
Seth has had his own problems but is detemined to live the right way with God's help and he has his own reasons for his travels. A story of two people who really needed each other, full of suspense and strong emotions, it could only make my heart warm as the narrator read the last word. I cannot wait to listen to the next in this series about Seth's brother Samuel.

Adventures

An audiobook narrated by Leonor A. Woodworth which is always great. She makes the story come alive along with Misty M. Beller’s great writing. I loved going along for the trip with Rachel and Seth as they go to the Canadian territories for reasons of their own. Rachel and Seth’s background sure made them an unlikely pair but can they overcome these problems? All kinds of trouble and hardships face them including Indians that they thought might kill them. I loved how she explained so vividly the horses going up the mountains taking their riders to the bottom. Read about the adventures and real life situations about trusting again. Rachel and Seth both have to learn to trust. Seth had to learn to trust that God would help him keep his life changed. Rachel had to learn to trust another man. A great story that I really enjoyed.
I received a free audiobook but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions and views are my own.

Journey Home

This Homeward Journey (Heart of the Mountains Book 5)
by Misty M. Beller

This is the fifth book in this clean historical fiction. The characters are appealing, with their own personalities. Their adventure of traveling to Canada for reasons each their own. There are many dangers along the way, Indian tribes, unsavory travelers, and wild animals. A possible romance in the making after frightening pasts. An enjoyable listen. I'll look for future books.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Leonor A. Woodworth brings this book to life.

Another brilliant story written by Misty and narrated by Leonor. I can’t find anything that could be improved upon except maybe another chapter or two!

Another great installment in this series!

Misty Beller does not disappoint with this story of how Rachel and Seth learn how to embrace a chance for a new life and even maybe love, despite failures and hardships of the past.
I loved the way Misty wrote both Rachel and Seth along with Rachel’s son and Seth’s brother. All were great characters. The plot was both believable and interesting. I love stories that take the reader through the same kind of terrain as the characters of going through their own journeys. Though this is a series, each book is entirely their own story and there is no feeling of "missing something" from the other books.

Leonore Woodworth has become the voice of Heart of the Mountains for me. Her narrative is wonderful and her performance of each character does not disappoint. I am so glad that she has continued this series!

Trust Needed

This has been a good series of traveling to the Canadian wilderness, and the desperate situation that drove them to come. Traveling alone is not an option and needs others even if you don’t trust them. Good series and audio was good for my voluntary review and my honest

Sweet unexpected journey!

This Homeward Journey is a beautiful love story! I love this series, each taking us on the path to a new life and finding love on the way. This adventure we meet Rachel and her son Andy, who are traveling across Canada to stay with her brother. The death of her husband left her with a mess to clean up and she is ready to start her new life. She begins traveling with Seth and Sam, twins also going to their siblings house, figuring it would be safer, but will Rachel's heart be safe? Rachel is a great character. She is independent, persistent and very careful. Always checking the motives of those they meet along the way, she is determined to be safe. Seth is a warm and loving man. He sees right into Rachel's heart, but now he just has to see how to win it. Their journey is long and action packed. There is danger lurking! I loved Rachel and Seth's growing relationship. Based on trust and faith, these two have a chemistry. Andy is a great boy and adds a lot of fun to the mix, leaving Sam who is a little more jaded than the rest. It's a great story, full of fear, hope, redemption and love.

Leonor A Woodworth is always a pleasure to listen to. I love her voice, it's very soothing and has a quality that makes me feel like coming home. Her performance in this story gives us an array of characters from the four main to grunting Indians! It's a wonderful listen!
