Before the Pilgrims landed at Cape Cod, what was happening in North America? Who was there? What civilizations rose and fell? For years, the answers to these questions have been shrouded in mystery.

At the time of European contact, a diverse world of Native peoples thrived across the continent. What was their backstory? Who were the ancestors of the Sioux? Where did the Navajo come from? What about the Apache, the Comanche, the Cherokee?

They Had Names is the result of a multi-year deep dive into genetics, indigenous histories, archaeology, and linguistics—an ambitious quest to uncover answers to these questions.

In this book, you will explore pre-Columbian links between civilizations of the Old World and civilizations of the New. You’ll learn about unexpected connections between Mexico and tribes north of the Rio Grande. You’ll also discover that ancient ruins from North American civilizations still exist, that these ruins tell dramatic stories, and that they can still be visited today.

On this continent, peoples and kingdoms rose and fell, great battles were fought, heroes were enshrined—heroes whose names have been preserved.

History, HIS STORY. Denial of facts is a critical feature fake science propaganda. It is evident by the research presented in this book those who claiming support for old earth, so called, science have yet another great mound of evidence to ignore and attempt to bury. Presented in this book are bold evidence in true science. BE SURE THY SINS WILL FIND THEE OUT. Just as evolutionists and athiests are patting themselves on the back for their "genius" God brings another proof of their foolishness.

Amazing how genetics opens our understanding of HISTORY

It started out good but then he started to lose me and in the end he reveals he is a creationist and then it starts going sideways.

Nathaniel Jeanson does a very good job of compiling evidence. His use of multiple structures (language evolution, DNA, and previously assembled oral histories) provides a useful framework for understanding the first peoples of the western hemisphere.
However, his conclusions were strongly influenced by his personal religious beliefs. In the end this book is more about backing into his “proof” for those beliefs than it is about the history of ancient people.
Also, his DNA analysis focuses solely on tracing the Y-chromosome and acknowledges that he deliberately omits the mitochondrial information. This gives the work a particularly male perspective that felt unnecessary and weakened his interpretive assertions.
In the end, although I enjoyed the book and found it impressive in scope and depth, his conclusions were spoiled by confirmation bias.

Spoiled by Confirmation Bias

I’m absolutely loving this book. I’m originally from Southeastern Michigan and, have seen some of the formations mentioned in the book. But I had no idea what they were. I started reading the hard copy but, on a whim decided to download the audio. I’m really glad I did. It’s neat to be able to look at the references in the book while listening to him talk about them. Definitely worth buying for anyone interested in the archeology in North America.

Very interesting! Definitely not a textbook!
