Predictable

There wasn't anything unique about the story but I did finish it and it was okay. The narration kept me listening, so these narrators get all the credit for raising the rating.

This book captured my attention from the beginning. Maya is running from her present life and Torin is haunted by his past. When she is found as a stowaway with her daughter on Torin’s boat, he instantly knows she is running from something or someone. I loved to hear the progression in these characters! The emotion, the healing, and the character growth was incredible!

This was my first experience listening to both Janine and Troy. The deep timber to Troy’s voice was so nice for Torin! I also felt like Janine was a perfect fit for Maya, and her kid voice was fantastic! This dual narration was so well done!

Torin with Troy Duran just hits different!!

This book by Ria Wilde already was amazing! But hearing them come to life was just everything! The Narrators did an amazing job bringing them to life! Definitely listen to this one!

I had the opportunity to read this book a few months ago but the performance Troy and Janine do is just so amazing. They made me fall in love with the story all over again.

Perfect casting choices

The way this book ripped my heart out at the 2% mark set the stage for an amazing, emotional journey. I was hooked from the start and there was never a moment that I wasn't fully invested in this story. Torin is what book boyfriend dreams are made of. He has taken the whole alpha possessive vibe to a whole new level because he has what it takes to back up that attitude. After Maya and her daughter show up on his boat he tries to "grumpy" his way into ignoring her but these two were destined from the start.  Maya is such a strong FMC and is fighting to change her life and protect her daughter from the ghosts of her past. There was so much tension and angst throughout the entire book that I felt like I had been on an emotional roller coaster.

I read this book originally as an ebook when it first released but listening to the audiobook adds to the experience and brings this emotional story to a whole other level of angsty.

Troy Duran has the perfect voice to perform Torin and truly encompass his broodiness. The emotion and despair comes through in droves and you just feel the heartbreak, confusion, desire and care in every scene. Janine Granda’s voice is beautiful and so easy to listen to. She performs Maya’s character flawlessly and every small nuance is appreciated as she really delivers on the emotional performance. When she voices Harper my heart just swells for the little girl’s character.
 
I cannot wait to continue this series. I love this town, love these characters and will be first in line to pick up Rett's story when it releases because I have a feeling these brothers are only going to get better. New Ria Wilde fan for life!!

Small town secrets

I really enjoyed the flow of this book. There were never any moments where a past or even present action was overly done. I didn’t find this overly dark either, maybe more a charcoal gray bc of the subject matter. Torrin and his brothers definitely have an interesting background and it’ll be interesting to see what is learned through the series. I loved the small town trope to this and how welcoming everyone is and accepting. The narration was spectacular. Troy always does Alpha male really well. His voice just commands protective tendencies and he really gets into the reading. Every sigh or breathe or whatever descriptor the character has he puts that into his narration and it just elevates it like he’s having the convo with you. Janine does a great job of projecting her characters as well. She really gets into the feeling they are having and brings them to life. Her kid voice is great too.

Narration

Troy Duran is fantastic but Janine Granda made all the female characters either sound drunk or uninterested.

Heartbreaking and beautiful .

The emotions Ria took us through in this book!!! The heartache at the bringing of Torin’s tragic past. Maya was such a strong mother trying to reduce her daughter and herself from her abusive ex. Trying to escape on an island in hopes he cannot find them.

Torin starts out the gate with a grumpy attitude with no interest in Maya and Harper. They keep running into each other since it’s a small island and eventually they can’t fight the attraction anymore.

Of course, we can’t live happily ever after this soon we need a traitor to turn her location in! This last half of the book was so intense and suspenseful!

Beautifully written story! Troy Duran and Janine Granda did a perfect performance bringing the characters to life! It was perfect.

Narrator

I love Troy as male narrator but I have to pay better attention to the female narrators. The female narrator just something about her I just don’t like. I’ll listen to just about any book with Troy Duran but um tired of wasting my credits and money when the female narrator just isn’t good!….. But other than that the book was very good and hot!!! I had to hurry home to my husband 🔥🔥🔥. lol
