Mixed Bag

I really enjoyed the idea and the world building. The narration was honestly great. The only main problem I had was that I would notice inconsistencies and VERY repetitive writing. I understand the repetition could be due to OCD writing but the inconsistencies were kinda ridiculous. Stuff like "It would take three days to reach this location if the survivors can make the trek," to "I have no knowledge of how long it would take to get there for them, the dead do not have need for time." While these weren't perfect quotes, things of this nature were very prevalent.

These Hallowed Bones: A LitRPG Adventure, my first read/listen from author Drew Kelly. An enjoyable read, especially for fans of LitRGG & FRP. I especially enjoyed the narrative talents of Johnathan McClain whose voice made an good book better. In all actuality this book took me a while to get through. It's good but there was a lot of battle, pull yourself together, win battle & do it again. “I received a complementary Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author with These Hallowed Bones 2: A LitRPG Adventure being published in July of next year. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Cool MC in a dark world

The MC is gritty and relentless. The undead twist was unique and opened the door to some cool abilities. The internal monologuing got repetitive at time. So long as he is fighting things were pretty awesome. The is a lot of potential here. The narration did a good job creating a dark atmosphere.

I liked the story and how it reminds me of dark souls and elden ring with a great voice over to match.

Unique MC

The author repeatedly uses "these old bones" but it seems to be used in place of "he" or "her" as the MC is not one individual but instead is something made up of the memories of any bones they have used in their form.

I do like the MC being what they are as it is a refreshing difference from just another human hero against all odds, this MC isn't human but an amalgamation of difference races from humans to dragons without all the politics the usual MC has to go through. Overall I like the book except for some parts that are repetitive. Looking forward to the next book.
