Publisher's summary

My name is Theoden. This is the story of my life. Apparently, there has been a huge demand for me to tell it. Normally, I do what I want unless the command comes from my sire, Ara. But, revealing the tale about how I became the powerful vampire prince of the city is something I think I will enjoy telling.

You'll see my first mission for the church, my first kill, the life-changing moment when I lost my virginity, and how I chose my first son - all of the things that mean something to me and that made me the vampire I am. So, sit back, and give me all of your attention, as I want your eyes on me. Now, let's begin.

Prepare to be entertained to new heights as Theoden delivers you a unique tale of his life from childhood to the vampire Master you know him to be.

Warning: This is a prequel to the highly erotic, extremely dark, and twisted New Haven series and the spin-off Odin Chronicles. I can't stress enough how strong the sexual, violent, and adult content is in this book. The temperature in the room will rise to unbearable degrees. Pearls will be clutched, and you may utter the words "Oh, my god" several times while listening to it. You have been warned. For mature listeners only.

Outstanding Book Meets Outstanding Narrator

Finally, Christian J. Gilliland lends his sexy voice to Théoden, The Prince of the City, the master vampire and honestly the true ruler of New Haven. Nicholas Bella has opened the door to the life of Théoden, He makes us understand who the character is and what makes him tick. As usual, with his books, NB is not trying to persuade us into liking or rooting for Théoden. He is merely telling us his origins story; he is asking us to take Théoden as he is or leave him! Oh, am I taking him!!
I have read this book several times since its publication in 2018, but listening to this narrator, it felt like a new story. I kept anticipating every scene. At one point, I had to pause the audio and dig out the book to ensure that a scene was actually in the book. Yes, the audio version is that good. This is a testament to Christian J. Gilliland artistry. This narrator is great, and his rendition of each character is outstanding and spot on. You will not be disappointed.
If this is your first Nicholas Bella’s book or your first foray into the New Haven/Odin Chronicles universe, please read the blurb and his disclaimer/warning to ensure that this is for you. If it is, you will LOVE this book and before you know it, you will CRAVE for more and will be reading/listening to Mr. Bella’s entire catalog. His work is that addictive. Enjoy

Fantastic

It's certainly a fantastic prequel to the series. Already loved Theoden from the series and loved knowing more about him and about how he came to be who he is. It's certainly one of my favorite series.

As to the narration, it felt great. It's an excellent work, it sounds really natural and expresive.

Very Intense and Riveting

Theoden is the prequel to the New Haven series, and a wonderful introduction to the series and Nicholas Bella’s writing. This book is not for the faint of heart – take the trigger and content warnings seriously. The world building is fascinating, but the world of New Haven series is dark and twisted ruled by vampiric morality. This means that there is a lot of violence, blood, and human suffering - no punches were pulled or soften.

This book follows the life of Theoden, from his childhood, both as a human and as a vampire, to his growth into a dangerous and powerful vampire lord. I found it riveting to follow Theoden’s journey from his point of view. The transformation was intense and dark with both cruel and painful moments as well as some surprising tenderness and love. I found the storytelling thrilling, and the writing style flowed very well. This was an intense and dark read, but so well written and captivating.

The audiobook, narrated by Christian J. Gilliland, was fantastic. Christian did an amazing job bringing this book to life. His performance was spectacular, and he was able to bring the characters alive with just the right amount of emotions and energy. I was hanging onto every word. Overall, this was a well done audiobook with quality production and narration.

And so it begins

What an amazing ride this took me on. The one character I loved to hate from the New Haven series by Nicholas Bella has now become my favorite character. Hearing how his house began and how he became a vampire and lived for centuries was amazing.
Some familiar faces appear in this work that are in other New Haven Novels so that was very comforting to know where they came from as well and how they all met Theoden. Learning how he sired his sons makes me want to also hear their stories as well. Fingers crossed that Nicholas Bella will grant us that honor.
Many times I could swear I could smell and taste the things from ancient times that were being described. It felt like actually being there as a witness to vampire history.
And of course let’s not forget the sex scenes were off the charts hot. Definitely almost melted my Kindle in my hands hot. But then it’s expected in a New Haven story, hot, raw and at times brutal male loving.
This has made me want to listen to the New haven series all over again just to see a new perspective I have on Theoden.
This is definitely a must read for any fan of vampire or male/male genres.

The rise of a Prince

Nicholas creates a dark, gritty world, that spawns one of the most fierce Princes in King Ara's Kingdom. As a main character in the New Haven series, it was so eye opening to see how Theoden evolved from an isolated little boy to the brilliant and masterful ruler of one of King Ara's territories. This book had me engaged from beginning to end. The worldbuilding and character development is top notch in this prequal to the New Haven series. This book is not for the faint of heart, nor anyone that doesn't enjoy a good (several) sex scenes. The world Theoden grew up in is a vicious, hard, unforgiving world that transforms from the monastic life to the unforeseen riches and pleasures of a world belonging to Vampires, Dragons, and Werewolves. Theoden was segregated from an early age, because the monks told him he was different. They were not wrong and King Ara, a vampire wanted Theoden for himself, because of his special abilities - He is half dragon.
Christian J. Gilliland was a fantastic choice to voice Theoden. He flows through the different accents that are present throughout this book. He manages to do what few can and he brings Theoden's gritty world to life and draws you in till you feel like you are enveloped and part of the world.

Wow! Fantastic

Wow, this narration might be my favorite. With a huge backstory for this bigger then life character I was hoping the Audio would pack a punch as much as the ebook did. Gilliland is fantastic with each personality and accent and pulled me right in. I can't wait for the next.

Theoden is the best!

When you're smiling and squirming at the opening credit, you know you're in a hell of a ride.

That voice, hmm, I can't get over it, it is so hot! And narrating my ultimate favorite vampire's book? Holyhell, I'm surprised I'm not a puddle on the floor. It was so hot!

I love this book so much, Theoden's story is really good. I love his journey, he had an interesting life and he went through so much. So good to see him in those kind of situation when he was just a young thing. Ara and Tylendel, oh god, those two with Theoden! Love them. Tylendel and Theoden's relationship is still one of my favorite, and I love how Ara handled everything.

Theoden with Nolan was hot too. Some hate fckng but enjoying the hell out of it. When Nolan rimmed Theoden, oh god.

Theoden went through everything just the same as when he put his boys through those things. Theoden is the strongest and the most badass mtherfcker out there, and I fight everyone who says otherwise.

Loved listening to the audiobook and you sure as hell I will re-listen to it many times in the future. That voice with this book - holy hell. Pearls clutching indeed. And don't get me started on the Marco/Theoden fckng. WOW.

Incredible!

Incredible Prequel to an incredible series! After reading this series I loved being able to listen to Theoden's story to get his beginnings and how he really became who he is in the series. This story follows him from childhood to his becoming a Vampire Lord and it's one incredible journey to say the least! Definitely heed the trigger warnings before listening to this one but know that it will pull you in from the very beginning and you will be hooked. The narrator did a great job with the story and bringing all of the characters to life. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audio book.

Maybe I started these series in the wrong order…

Because I enjoyed Noel’s story. I just thought Theoden’s was a slightly changed repetition.

Good narration, it was just following the plot a bit too closely to what we learned about Noel so by chapter 9 I couldn’t face finishing it considering there were 8+ hours left …
